  1. "Ten million people. Call it a million businesses and a few million homes/apartments. We're goin' to need a lot of jails, eh? Last I checked, we're also not big on allowin' da government to seize private property willy-nilly. Constitution and all that. Plus, seizin' that much property you're goin' to cause more than a few banks and downstream or upstream businesses to fail. That will put a lot of citizens out of work and in harm's way." Beavah, First you would never have to arrest that many. After you incarcerated the first few and people knew the government was serious, they woul
  2. John-in-KC Why would a troop need 2 deep leadership if none of the adults were going? Thats another strange item to see. Supose they couldn't get adults, does that mean the youth couldn't go?
  3. Its an easy fix to stop the illegals. 1. Build a good fence. 2. Make the punishments so severe for eemploying them, no one will. 2 years in Jail and a fine per each illegal hired $50,000.00 plus siezure of your business. 3. Don't allow them in our schools, hospitals, churches , stores, or any other place. 4. Make the punishment for renting to them 2yrs in Jail and Fine of $50,000, plus forfiture of you rental property. If you make it so they can't work, can't buy fppd or get a place to live of use the hospitals, then they will just go back to the 3rd world countr
  4. Before saying anything, I would like to know her age?
  5. I can't answer for most states, but I beleve they are the same as NY is for access to criminal records and restricted DMV files. In order to have court access to them I have to sign a oath that I will not use them for other than official purposes and to pass what I found to unauthorized personnel is a Crime and would probably cost me my job.
  6. When the true story that Elvis and Michael Jackson are both being help in the witness protection program at a scout camp in the Adirondacks in NY then maybe we will get ther girls.
  7. This like every other attempt will fail the minute they find out that they have to suspend 40% or more of the units for failure to comply, then the waivers will start being passed out and nothing will change
  8. At this point, you should say nothing. I take from your message that he was never convicted of anything. If he was convicted of a crime, then that should be reported to the council, because they are still registered with you and until a transfer takes place still on your charter. If he has not been convicted of anything then he is innocent and unless specifically asked you should not say anything. If asked just say that he was suspended by the Pack for unacceptable behaviour and if they want to know more then they should ask him directly. As to being sued for slander, not gonna happen if
  9. Boy scouts have constantly studied if they should admit females and at what level in the program. Any organization the size of the Boy Scouts constantly looks at its membership, looks at future things and the whole program. If you don't you will surely fade away. So do I think they are studying the issue again, you bet. What will the oucme be, who the heck knows. Is there anything I can do to influence the decisions to be made, probably not and why worry. What ever comes down the pipeline we will adapt, always have, always will
  10. My 1969 Matagamon Wilderness Base patch for canoeing the Allagash river in Northern Maine. This was in the days before Fiberglass and Aluminum canoes. We had 18ft wood and canvas monsters, that took 4 boys to portage. 135 Miles in 10 Days.
  11. Incarceration for non-payment of child support in NY and some other states will show on your criminal history. Just depends on how your state records it.
  12. Scoutldr, depending on the state it may be legal for school personnel, I know its not in NY, but I don't think its legal under federal law. Same problem would be if one of those office people screwed up. Un untrained scout leader should not be handling controlled drugs
  13. unless you are licensed and trained to handle meds, what you did is a federal crime and most likely a state crime also. I can only speak of NY's laws, but most states are the same. Handling controlled drugs without being licensed is a class A Misd. and depending on circumstances a felony. Is it worth screwing your life up if a mistake is made and someone is hurt or dies over a wrong med you dispensed. The boy needs to keep his own meds and you can track to see that they take them, thats it.
  14. Is this a new national course, because I have never heard of it. Anyone else?
  15. Even if it counts the soonest you could use it for Eagle credit would be 7/1/2010, 6 months after it became effective. Plenty of time for correct info and new forms to get out there.
  16. I asked several people from our area that were at NOAC, they heard nothing of the kind, in fact they said any discussion about venturing and the OA were squelched real quick. Another scouting urban legend
  17. I will reserve judgement until someone explains the basis of the figures and provides a breakdown of what it consists of.
  18. NE region has put the word out that the 50 mile limit is going to be enforced this time also. Make the trip, spend a day at Jambo, then vist some of the other sites for the other days. Don't waste 3 days at Jambo visiting because like others said the boys will be bored.
  19. Tour permits are the most useless thing that national has. They have no bearing on anything and searve no useful purpose what so ever. Every coucil has its own rules when you need one and really do nothing with them anyway.
  20. Its a great place to take a group to visit, but do not expect to participate in 95% of the activities as you need a participants ID badge to do that. Still there is lots to see and visit for a day or so.
  21. mmhardy, The reality is, no one knows who he is, if he even is a river guide of just a Troll. He came on here and made his first post, loudly criticizing scout leaders, and posted grossly inaccurate information. How should we take him? When challanged, he sent nasty PM's, and never really corrected his mistakes. I for one question his validity and asked him in a PM who he worked for to see if he was a real guide, so far no answer.
  22. Gutterbird, One thing to keep in mind is creating a SM leadship position is fine for Star and Life, but Eagle requires one from the National approved list. The SM cannot create a leadership position for Eagle.
  23. NE-IV-88-Beaver While I respect your point of view, I also disagee with your assesment of waynepjh. To waynepjh, I asked your politely not to PM me again, please be a man and respect my wishes.(This message has been edited by nldscout)
  24. I also received a very inappropriate email from this person. He didn't like it because I called him on his facts being wrong. My thoughts are that he is not who he claims to be. While I beleive that you should use a guide if the conditions call for it, we have rafted places that a guide was not needed. Note that they had made 2 successful trip down there already. They got off the line on this last one. I have seen professional guides do this and flip rafts also.(This message has been edited by nldscout)
  25. After reading the stories online and what was on the newspaper's site, thia appears to be nothing but a tragic accident. The Leader was trained and experianced and they had already done it twice. I think waynepjh, in his origonal post was way oout of bounds here and he didn't even have his fact close to being correct.
