  1. When national answers a real appeal, which is not the case here, they answer directly to the scout and to the council. Thats how you get the answer on a real appeal. But in this case since there is no appeal at national, there won't be an answer.
  2. Only 8 more posts and we got 36 pages, lets not quit now ladies and gents
  3. Does anyone know what the longest thread was? has there ever been one more that 35 pages?
  4. nrp, We all know the answer by now, there is no appeal. However its more fun to beat this horse over and over cause its entertaining and keeps your mind sharp.
  5. shortridge No, we have nothing special, they are not owned by the CO, they were paid for and owned by the troop. Thats the way it is allowed in NY according to our property laws. This is exactly what I have said for years about the myth that the CO owns everything. The ownership rules are entirely dependant upon the laws of the state that you are located in.
  6. Yes we have theft insurance If its being towed, in most instances the towing vehicle's insurance covers it for liability, have the driver check his policy. First never leave it at your meeting site unless you have a well lit secure area. More trailers disappear from parking lots then anyplace else. Find a secure fenced lot or park it at someones house for security. As far as insurance, your theft insurance covers that, also check with your CO to see if they will cover it for theft. As far as ownership, a lot depends on your state rules for ownership and registration. All of
  7. Well according to a friend of mine who is a CE in another council, when he was at region and national in previous jobs the goal was to decide appeals in as short a time as possible, but he could not recall any appeal taking over 90 days, they want to answer as quickly as possible to get the scout back on track.
  8. If she does come up with the $202, ask the COR for permission to file a small claim against her, or better have the popcorn Kernal file a complaint for harassment, then see how she likes it.
  9. well your choices are simple. 1. Ignore it and write it off. (not really fair to other scouts) 2. Get the CO's permission to file a small claim action. In most states with the CO's permission you can go to court on the CO's behalf, you don't need an attorney to do this. 3. Get CO's permission and then go to the police, file a criminal complaint, have them arrested. The local GSUSA council is quite tough when it comes to cookie money. They have filed several claims against leaders/parents who do not turn in cookie money in my court and in 100% of the time they have prevail
  10. Might as well stay at a motel 6 as stay in a lodge, thats not winter camping. Build snow shelters and sleep in them, no thats winter camping.
  11. I hope by now everyone realizes this is just a hoax and no appeal was ever filed
  12. Well I for one don't beleive this story one bit. This is nothing but a crock. Appeals don't take that long.
  13. The last two appeals that I am aware of from our council took 30 days and 45 Days to get a response. The standard that we were told is an answer in 30 days unless more info is needed as was the case in the 45 day one.
  14. The only way he can get away now is to leave europe, because if he leaves switzerland to go to france under Europeon law thay have to return him. The French won't risk that.
  15. Abel, Without knowing what state your council is located in, some of these age requirements maybe because of Stae Laws. Here in NY youth under 12 may not touch firearms, so no one uner 12 can take rifle shooting.
  16. According to BSA rules you can only be registered in 1 troop. You can work with any other troop that allows you to, but you can only have 1 registration active.
  17. Whats ridiculous here is the thought that you would waste any time worrying about what this other troop thinks. This is clearly a None of your Business thing. Just ignore them and keep on scouting.
  18. Legally, there is no such thing as a customer list for Boy Scout troops. Like others have said, there is no "OWNER" of the customers you sold to previously. I would do absoultly nothing, don't answer them, don't call them back, simply ignore them. If they call you again reply with " Hello, nice to hear your voice again, can't talk now, bye" then hang up. Just remember, next year to start selling earlier. as to dg98adams comment "I would not "poach" geographically sales that are closer to the old Troop" There is no such thing as geographical sales area, no one owns the bu
  19. While Mr Polanski's case is in the news, its not unusual. People get picked up on a warrant that was issued years ago because they failed to appear and they were not returnable or couldn't be found. Then all the sudden something happens that causes your name to come to the attention of Law enforcement, like a speeding ticket, then you get an unexpected trip in the middle of the night to come see someone like me and generally get locked up. The oldest Warrant I have seen was 35 yrs old and was still valid. Mr. Polanski is a convicted escaped FELON. He pled guilty and then ran before se
  20. I noticed that Ninga hasn't posted anything since the first day when he didn't get the answers that he wanted.
  21. We had a parent that tried this same thing. Claimed her twins were so advanced they needed to move up to Boy Scouting at 9.5 yrs of age. Applied to council for an exception, was turned down. Then appealed to National and was denied also. She then took boys out of scouting, it was a shame because they enjoyed it. Sometimes an aggressive parent is a boys worse enemy. I have seem young people from time to time that because the parents push them so hard that at around 16 they rebel and start getting in trouble just to pay parent back for all the pressure. Then before you know it,
  22. Knowing that we are only hearing one side of the story and not knowing what the real truth here is, this does sound like 2 adults trying up to see who's got the bigger "thing" Just 2 adults who can't play right together.
  23. This is why when we are using a group sit elike this we try and get one adult to go as an advance party a few hours ahead of the troop. You send him with the paperwork, a comfy chair, some snacks and a good book, and smetimes with a big stick to beat of the interlopers
