    • Through an email to the settlement trust asking for any sort of update on my case, in the beginning of July I was told it was ‘under review’. It’s now going on a half of a year in review. Does this seem normal under the circumstances?
    • I could not agree more. I have yet to attend an overnight event with my 8-year-old Cub Scout. I don't think we'll attend our council's 3-day summer Cub camp either. The thought of being saddled with someone else's kids is overwhelming to me. I struggle to maintain order at Den meetings. 10% of the boys cause 90% of the problems and I don't want to be there when something really bad happens. For my son to get the most out of the program, I know I'll need to take a different approach when he joins a Scout Troop, but as of now - it's not worth the trouble IMHO. I really hate to admit it, but it's true.
    • While looking for something I ran across an old post, though not sure how I ended up with it, commenting on Merlyn.  That brought me to recollecions of Bob White and a few others from "way back".  So, I tried to find a cumulative list of present and past members, but had no luck.  Is there one someplace.  My tech skills are very weak, and my focus a bit fuzzy at times.  Thanks.
    • I have a rain jacket that works well with a wide brimmed hat. I have rain pants that I rarely use. If I lived in more rainy climates I'd replace the pants with a rain kilt/skirt and possibly gators. All of which can grow with a teenager.
    • Rain gear...  "it depends"   on the expectation. In hiking the Camino , I saw many "solutions", from NOTHING (!), to ponchos to school crossing guard yellow rain slickers. I used a poncho, covered my backpack and me, the condensation and splash up on the inside surface was troublesome, but the overall effect was good I thought.. Ventilation. True story:  Movie production company was doing some work in New England (I think) about ocean fishing, sails and working sailors. The cast was dressed in new  bright yellow slickers. The locals reminded the crew (politely, of course) that since realism was desired, the cast should look the part , and the locals were willing to "loan" them some "experienced " rain gear. The movie crew gave the entire town new rain gear, the town got rid of all their old worn out gear, happy ending....
