Or lots of boys looking to wrap up and move on......LDS or otherwise. -
According to beascout.org there are 0 ships within 20 miles of my home zip code, 2 within 20 miles of my Chicago work zip code. One of those ships is charted to a yacht club on Lake Michigan. My impressions of Sea Scouting is it's mostly a coastal elitist kind of thing.

Ouch. The Venturing number represents the final departure of the LDS scouts from Venturing/Varsity. The Boy Scouts bump in 2017 is the few LDS Venture/Varsity scouts who stuck but are now clearly out. The Cub Scout number is painful. If we in fact gained 75,000 girls, the numbers imply we lost 90,000 boys...... -
Private passenger train service collapsed prior to the 70s, Amtrak was fledgling in 73, and airline fares were still fully regulated (meaning no cheap southwest flights).

Bear Grylls is new World Scout Ambassador
walk in the woods replied to RememberSchiff's topic in Scouting Around the World
So the frogs he ate just jumped into his pot of boiling water of their own accord by accident? He killed the frog(s) on purpose, for no other reason than his TV show, in direct violation of the park regulations. A scout is kind informs this, no? So he gets a pass for his poor behavior because he's famous? Really? Do we want to teach our scouts, "you have to be really trustworthy, at least until you get famous!" Except fishing in a National Park is generally legal and typically licensed. In Gryll's case killing the animals is expressly forbidden (Hmmm, obedient maybe comes into play). -

Hmmm. A few years back the BSA kicked to men out of the organization because they knocked over some rocks in a state park (https://www.pri.org/stories/2013-10-21/utah-boy-scout-leaders-expelled-after-toppling-ancient-rock-goblin-valley-state). You can search goblin to find the thread where this forum crucified them. If Bear did the things he's accused of doing, why would we as a forum or an organization look the other way? Because he's British? Hip? Can recruit youngsters? Seems like some highly situational ethics. -

Why blame there Bulgarians for Gryll's behavior? -
2019 GUIDE TO SAFE SCOUTING

Yes. From the G2SS FAQ -
$0 and we also don't collect dues. Pack typically provides entree (e.g. fried chicken from Walmart). Families fill in sides and desserts. Any extras depend on the success of fund raising.

Female youth meeting with District Eagle Chair
walk in the woods replied to awanatech's topic in Advancement Resources
Are you sure? If your three-person Eagle board is all male, it will not be in compliance with YP for a female Eagle candidate unless the candidate's parent is also in the room. -

I appreciate the sentiment but disagree. If the BSA publishes two documents with different guidance on an issue they can't both be right. Not to mention it's confusing for volunteers. The BSA updates the G2SS every quarter. How hard is it to write a clear and concise policy? -

So which one stands in court, the G2SS or the FAQ? -
Beyond the charter renewal fee, does your CO provide meeting space/storage? If they do you need to figure that into your calculation. Yes, it's part of their responsibility but that doesn't mean the cost is $0.

5 Ideas for "No-Dishwashing" Camp Dinners

Get a piece of beef roast, thoroughly cover in an ice cream salt and mustard slurry, bury in the coals. Bust the crust off with the back of your knife and dig in. -
I'm the proud holder of a Beekeeping MB. At one point the BSA said they were going to make pollinators part of Env. Science I think.

Eagle Scout Extension for new 2019 Scouts
walk in the woods replied to scotteg83's topic in Issues & Politics
I don't know that I said she was endorsing a candidate. She was however using her uniform to push a political position at a political event in which politicians were exploiting her and her uniform for political gain. I agree that it's a lot of work to chase around every button and ball cap. However, if we're going to say it's too much work, one should be equally laissez-faire when one sees a scout wearing an "Abortion is Murder" button on their uniform in the same way. So what say you? Anything goes or anything goes for her because she's her? -
Eagle Scout Extension for new 2019 Scouts

To be clear. There is nothing in Article 2 Section 3 of the Constitution that requires POTUS to give a public speech from the House floor to a joint session of Congress. In fact historically the SOTU was just delivered via letter. The fact that the SOTU has be come a televised spectacle makes it a political event. If it isn't a political event why does every politician in America invite someone associated with their favorite cause to the SOTU for photo ops and recognition? Because they are using the event to signal their stands to their constituency. The Patch article you shared is exactly what makes the SOTU a political event! -

She stood for a picture with Speaker Pelosi and her congress woman Carolyn B. Maloney, with an ERA YES button on her uniform. The SOTU is a political event and Ireland was pushing a political message, in her BSA uniform. -
