Out of question, shouldn't all the crossover AoL scouts already have their cyber chip while in 5th grade from having done it in cub scouts? Its good for an entire year and can be recharged to be extended. It really should only affect scouts who join a troop with no prior scouting experience.

I would describe it as advancement is getting more outdoor focused, but yes on your main point.

There’s a Cub Scout nova award around wind tunnels, so presumably it’s ok.

Arguably any skydiving pair is in sight of lots of other scouts and scouts, so doesn't violate ypt.

BSA’s new Background Check Authorization Form

That’s not unique to this new agreement though. -
BSA’s new Background Check Authorization Form

Isn’t that a disclosure though? -
BSA’s new Background Check Authorization Form

Even saying that might count as disclosure to a third party to the Chartering Organization. And most lawyers have seemed to say that the language used is broad because its directly quoting the FCRA. -
Looking at what other countries do, it seems like they split off k-2 and 3-5 into two different programs. If we are to have a k-12 program, that really ought to be a goal, IMO. Breaking those two out would greatly improve the ability to do fun stuff with the 3-5 kids. More hiking, camping, outdoors, without as much worry about kids being ready. Trying to set standards for activities for all kids k-5 is really tough.

Interesting observation - rank advancement
malraux replied to Jameson76's topic in Open Discussion - Program
I suspect she knows why national won't give her a EBoR yet, because once you finish the EBoR, you're an eagle, and national want to make sure that no one can claim to be first. -
I just don't think those pages should be considered controlling relative to other sources.
-
Perhaps even sequentially back to back overnight events… near as I can tell, the bsa National has made no such ruling that only 1 night at a time is allowed, and if they do want that to be the rule, they should make it explicit.
-
Found where it came from: https://www.scouting.org/programs/cub-scouts/activities/cub-scout-camping/ “Packs may not conduct campouts longer then overnight. “ that said, I’m not sure how binding those pages are. I know the pages on the ranks gets interpreted incorrectly about how the webelos program works.
-
Especially since it also described resident camp as Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts may participate in a resident overnight camping program operating under BSA National Camping School–trained leadership and managed by the council. Sounds like someone is over reading.

I think that if someone is complaining about the lack of a fleur de lis on your temporary insignia patch, they've missed the point.

HAHAHAHAHA. I mean, yeah I'll probably end up donating a hefty amount by the end, but if that were expected, they can take this job and shove it. But given that the line of people showing up to do stuff is me and two or three other cub scouters I don't think they'll happen.

We've found back to school nights to be awful for recruitment. Parents are busy trying to find everything and don't have time to grab stuff.

Rather rightfully so. Our recruitment season is almost over here and we will have to go back to everyone and say sorry, but we'll need some extra fees this year.

"Tell me about this patch" is far more interesting than "this patch doesn't meet regulation".
-
To be fair, the inside and outside of scouting only refers to the youth protection rules like no 1 on 1 contact.

Another option would be to take on some roles on the district training committee. -
Beginning of wolf year but only 2nd year for son
malraux replied to Johnapollo138's topic in New to Scouting?
I do suspect that scouting does draw quirky kids more so than other situations. And Wolf year is kinda the worst, second graders can be really loud in groups, but can't really focus yet. Looking at a different unit can help, if there's a more controlled group try there. -
Advice for a new wood badger
malraux replied to Scoutmom1989's topic in Wood Badge and adult leader training
Some scouters here like to rag on wood badge because it does sometimes attract a certain overbearing personality. And some councils get really into the wood badge as a fun course of hijinks and traditions instead of a pretty decent leadership training course.
