  1. You don’t need to be smart to fill out paperwork. You need to be determined and put effort and you can accomplish it.
  2. I’m only 15, I started my proposal when I was 14.
  3. I personally found it extremely easy to fill out, and it took me little time. The only time it repeats is some things from the proposal is in the final report. It was a pain emailing and sometimes loading but it worked. Ive done it within the past 4-5 months so it’s pretty recent.
  4. If you could include team building activties/games that would be great!
  5. It’s nice to see that they don’t mind wearing the uniforms.
  6. At the daycamp I worked at there was around maybe 5 girls (?). Anyway, everyone was required to wear either BSA shorts or something similar (because you all know if we bought 4 pairs of shorts it would be our salary for the summer ), and everyone single one of them loved all of the pockets & everything.
  7. It must’ve taken a looooong time to replace everything with “family” and “children”
  8. I was just using tiger as a example. I think they did get rid of I and II due to a day camp that I worked at split it up by webelos and AOL.
  9. Just something I’ve observed from reading the original post. They must say “girl(s)” after each rank now. “Tiger girls”, “Tiger boys”. Probably will end up annoying some people.
  10. It wasn’t that wet, it dried up by the afternoon. It did snow though in my area for a little bit.
  11. My mother was a GS Leader for at least 8 years, before my sister aging out. She had ran a huge camp of 200+ people (volunteer) for the district (I guess that's what they call them?). I was able to go once, and it was planned perfectly, no on the fly stuff, and it was the most organized camping trip I have been on. I was only about 10, but now the GS volunteers around our town refuse to let anyone else volunteer. My mother tried to volunteer again, handed in the application & all, but never heard back because the leaders are jealous. They have their ups and downs just like BSA does.
  12. Well said. I’m 2 badges away from Eagle. I’ve done my project & everything else. It’s not difficult if you put effort and are organized. I’ve had my problems with my project, (beneficiary had me change it last minute) but I got through it. I also agree with your last statement, if you need your parents to do your work or all of it, then you don’t deserve Eagle in my opinion. You didn’t learn anything, didn’t experience anything, and all that.
  13. Christmas party this weekend, no idea what kind of gift I should bring. It doesn’t have to be scout related. (as all of you can tell from my previous post, I’m bad at picking gifts.)
  14. Update: Got a $10 foldable daypack off of Amazon.
  15. How about the mods who haven’t been on for years?
  16. Hi! Almost ready for my EBOR.
  17. Troop does a yearly secret Santa (only around 12 scouts), and the troop is in a somewhat poor town. (Only myself and another scout come from a bordering town that doesn’t have that issue, but we stayed in the troop because we liked the troop.) We have a limit of around $10, so I’m asking for a idea for a gift that is Scout related gift. Most scouts have no idea what, and I have no idea what.
  18. Or... Maybe the scout doesn’t actually want to be there? Not everyone is into scouting. There’s someone in my troop, he is life almost Eagle, he has 0 intention of being at any meeting. His mother forces him, his mother is doing all the paperwork & did requirments, and chose a project that has no impact on anyone (painted a basement, painted floor is already chipping.) Comes late to every meeting, even though he lives across the street. His mother & him argue with me for no reason often as well. Some people just don’t want anything to do with scouting, but is forced by parents.
  19. It’s not a learning evaluation, it’s not used as a test, it’s more like a study game teachers use to reinforce it.
  20. “Kahoot! is a game-based learningplatform, used as educational technology in classrooms and other learning institutions. Launched in August 2013 in Norway,[1] Kahoot! is played by millions of people in 100 countries.[2] Its learning games ("kahoots") are multiple-choice quizzes that can be created by anyone and are not restricted as to age level or subject matter. Kahoot! can be played using any mobile device, desktop or laptop with an internet connection and web browser” Many schools use this, and I decided to try it out to help them retain/learn first aid while having fun and not sitting there listening to someone talk. Basically someone has the main laptop where they show the laptop to the players which reads the question and multiple choice answers off the main laptop and has a x amount of time to answer on their phone/laptop. Completely free, and easy to use. Team mode is also available.
  21. I know Troops around me that wear something just like that and it’s hideous.
  22. @gblotter Thanks! I have another question if you don’t mind, do you require blue cards for EBOR? My district in my Council has decided to start requiring them, yet nobody has them saved. Isn’t the online records all that matter?
