    I’ve done my project (kind of the main part of Eagle), but still need to do two merit badges.

    I would just say split the pack, but you’d get parents with boy(s) and girl(s) which will cause inconvenience too. 100 Scouts will cause the quality of your pack to go down due to the mass amount of numbers and it’s not possible for every single DL and ADL to be good/perfect.

    I told them the same exact thing as you all said. I didn’t earn it yet, and I’m not exactly close so why would I put it?

    I’m being told by my parents and other troop leaders that I should put “Eagle Scout Canidate” on my resume to present myself better. But, I don’t believe I’m a “Canidate” until I fill out the application, etc. I did my project, I am only two merit badges away. I wanted other scouters opinions on how they would feel if they saw it.

    I have taken the Rifle Merit Badge (have a partial though because I didn’t know I needed to know PA gun laws). We didn’t have any support of sandbags or anything, we had to lay in the prone position. We used a scope, I don’t think many youth would be able to hit accuractly with only a iron sight. And from what I recall, I can’t completely remember about the shooting requiremnet.

    I forgot to add this before, if you do go through with that, start having him interact with his special mentor before even interacting with the Troop. It’ll make him more comfortable since he will be like “Oh I know him!” and will most likely just feel better.

    For messaging systems, a app called “Remind” sends text messages + e-mails in one. It is mostly used by schools, but it’s free to use for anyone. I use it for my troop. Great tool to send mass-text messages at no cost.

    Due to the SM being distant, I would ask if a ASM could be his aide, or any other active adult member.

    I would have him start attend their meetings now to observe and participate a little so the leader can adjust before he actually comes into the troop. Or what @RememberSchiff said

    That what I sort of meant as well, how the BSA expects members to be loyal. Again, apologies.

    Sorry all, I didn’t mean that they were trying to interfere or “steal members” more like trying to gain money. Apologies to those that voted down. Mind doesn’t think late at night and early in the morning.

    In my opinion, BSA is greedy. By having them not have a dual membership will increase revenue by having more money spent on BSA.

    I personally could care a less, but I’m shocked BSA doesn’t want them only in BSA.

    See, that is something to be proud of. Maybe it’s not as difficult and requires many funds unlike the projects said above, but you made a huge impact. Maybe bigger than most.

    If it has a personal meaning and have a valid reason behind it, then I’d be onboard. But doing it because it’s the “easiest and least effort” Project is not the right attitude. I had a bigger project planned but my beneficiary ended up asking me to change it due to them wanting to keep items as a memory.

    I don’t like collection drives either. It doesn’t prove Leadership and it’s nothing meaningful in my opinion. My troop has two clothing drives a year, but don’t see us using it as a Eagle Scout Project.

    99.99% of the time we use scout reservations or a camp affiliated with scouting. Only time was probably to Assateague, Maryland We do hope to do a camporee this year which is located on a beach with a nice boardwalk full of games and rides. Edit: Thinking about it now, we camped on private property when we visited Gettysburg
