It's 2017, shouldn't we be above this? -

I'm not clear. What happens IF a scout goes anyway and gets the badge? Does your troop ignore that? -

No POTUS Signature on Eagle Scout Certificate

I'll bet if you sent it to the White House it would come back with a signature. -

"SM's that are in the program only to serve their own egos have no place in Scouting." Exactly why we should do away with knots and just stick to service stars. Nothing says experience like a guy wearing a 20 year service star. -
BSA literature? Were it not for the lack of clarity and contradictions contained in these documents one might actually find what they were looking for.

I hear Baden Powell held camp outs at Old Trafford.

In many cases both parents don't "have" to work. They want to work for various reasons. If they wanted to have one parent stay home they could, but that would mean sacrifice. Many people are unwilling to do that.

Man you guys will argue about anything. Neckerchiefs? Really? You all should have dryers on your heads.

Well that's a change. Don't recall attending a day camp being a requirement way back when. Below is the link that says the first requirement is to attend day camp or other cub camp and... http://www.scouting.org/Home/CubScouts/Leaders/Awards/CSOutdoorActivityAward.aspx

Linux is for advanced users. Mac is for people who just want their computer to work with little fuss. Windows is for people who hate Mac but don't want the hassle of learning something new. Linux is for techies who hate Windows and Mac. Unix is for folks that really want to exercise their tech muscle. Mainframe is for people who want life-long job security.

I'd focus on: - Letting the boys select their MBs. - Urging them to take MBs that interest them that may not be offered at home. - Keep the guys busy especially after dinner, wards off home sickness - Encourage them and keep things fun. - Build patrol and Troop spirit by participating in camp games - Make sure they are prepared by following the packing checklist and doing a shakedown before you leave - Keep then off electronics

Doesn't look like policy was followed on the thread below. Nor was anyone's hand slapped. Consistency would be nice. http://scouter.com/index.php/topic/28693-fighting-anti-muslim-bigotry/

Our guys are all "suits". I doubt they own any camping gear. If they spent one summer week having to use the facilities they make us use, those toilets would be fixed in two weeks.

Our youth leaders ditcched ours. Many happy faces.

Find a skill the competitive boys don't know but the normal kids do. Have them teach it to the competitive boys. The DL needs to remind the boys that it's not a competition. It's about having fun. Being the best knot tying scout has never come up when using my knot skills. You either know it or you don't.

If, and only if, the camps didn't know.

Scoutmaster delaying advancement....right course of action?

Our SM gives the guys a sheet with a few steps on it for requesting a bor. He has them take note during the SMC so they know. -
Question about dry camps at Philmot
Back Pack replied to CB in Texas's topic in Camping & High Adventure
Sorry if I confused you with my response. I'd go with - 6-7 x1 liter foldable water bottles per person - 1 x 1 liter nalgen per person - 1-2 x 2-2.5 gallon foldable water carriers per crew I would avoid camelbacks and one-size personal water containers. When they leak you're done. If you have the one liter containers you have back ups. -
Question about dry camps at Philmot
Back Pack replied to CB in Texas's topic in Camping & High Adventure
It's a matter of preference. Fact is you need the water, so either everyone carries more (6-8 liters each) or you carry a few half filled 2 gallon bags. I would recommend everyone have those folding water bottles and at least one nalgen. Saves on weight and space. https://www.rei.com/product/820769/platypus-platy-water-bottle-70-fl-oz?CAWELAID=120217890000798875&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=15877492480&CATCI=aud-87986356584:pla-301022880120&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C404_58226%7C8207690001%7Cnone%7Cd0946a35-4f61-48d7-8b22-d2d150cda7f2%7Caud-87986356584:pla-301022880120&lsft=cm_mmc:PLA_Google_LIA%7C404_58226%7C8207690001%7Cnone%7Cd0946a35-4f61-48d7-8b22-d2d150cda7f2%7Caud-87986356584:pla-301022880120&gclid=CjwKCAjwr_rIBRBJEiwA6C-exyW6C7l7-vWIuYHvW2a6W9Lo_06I4z1rIdLMtt7O3ehr_3oQMGWSxxoCGH0QAvD_BwE
