  1. I can't be certain that they are 100 accurate all the time, but when I joined NESA, supposedly they check with national, and they had me on file, from "71".

  3. Medical Technologist. Part time business breeding snakes.
  4. By all means, let the boy handle it. Maybe counsel him on alternative sources for materials. You are right, the chief is being downright rude.
  5. Got mine at a troop court of honor. This was an outdoor program. My patrol advisor presented them, and my patrol was present. Foxes rule. C-11-96
  6. Yes, I know exactly how you feel. I feel like I'm "dragging some mules to water" also. I am rapidly approaching the point of throwing in the towel as far as being a commisioner.
  7. Agreed, this situation becomes more complex by the day. The BSA is going to have some hard decisions to make. Glad I don't have to make them.
  8. Anyone striking anyone, for any reason would probably be instantly thrown out of scouting.
  9. Nature Mammal Study Reptile and Amphibian Study Medicine
  10. A waterproof footlocker, or a sterilite tub with a lid would be highly reccomended by me. When it rains out there, it really rains, and being able to keep all your clothes dry is wonderful. I had to hang up all my clothes and dry them after the monsoon at the 2001 Jambo.
  11. Got my staff patch too. No offer of a position yet.
  12. I agree Ed, this whole situation is almost unbelievable.
  13. I agree, ask him to show you in writing the requirement. He cannot add to requirements in any way.

    KNOTS

Youth wear the arrow of light patch. Adults wear the square knot. Neither one wears both.
  15. Just pray that there is a country left to save 4 years from now.

    KNOTS

Excellent post chief thundercloud, thank you.
  17. I attended the 69 jamboree as a youth. I wear the patch proudly on my uniform.
  18. Good post. Unfortunately, many adult leaders don't want to be yelled at by a parent, and don't do what's right, and let the kid slide on through.
  19. Just ordered an Eagle ring last spring from National through my council.
  20. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if you are in front of dozens of witnesses, you can be accused for any sort of touching. Anytime you touch a scout, you do so at your own risk.
  21. I was lucky enough to get some garters and knee socks in a bag that somebody dropped off at the council office and didn't want anymore.
  22. LisaBob, Sorry to hear that the boy dropped out. I'm sure you did everything you could to save the situation, but they have to meet you halfway for anything to work out. I hope the young man continues to develop satisfactorally, even if out of scouts.
  23. My guess would be that if they tried to deny the boy his Eagle because of lack of blue cards, it would be overturned on appeal to regional/national.

    KNOTS

Excellent post. It has often been my experience that the scout leaders who ignore the training knots appropriate to their position are often the leaders off doing their own thing, with no regard for the official BSA program.
