  1. That’s how my troop does it since we are small. We only have 2 patrols, Sr and Jr. Sr has 3 and Jr has 8 about. Whenever we have a camp out usually not everyone goes, usually around 7-9 out of 11. So why have a Patrol with 2 scouts and one with 6 or a Patrol with 1 scout and 8 scouts? I don’t know if other small troops do it, but we do it. We just register with the Patrol name of the most scouts that are attending. It makes life easier for me as well.
  2. I just feel like it wouldn’t be useful to youth. There would only be a limited time to get a leadership position as a Boy Scout. Then, you would have to spend another 50 dollars on a brand new uniform only 2-3 years in, and then more money on a new book, etc. I feel like it wouldn’t work out well for low income families. To answer your statement, I don’t mind being the old one in the group but I’m starting to get burnt out as a SPL (2nd year), I haven’t been as enthusiasm as I use to, and honestly my quality of work is going down in Scouts. I am done in about 2-3 months so it’ll be all
  3. I’m aware, but I just put it out there, I wasn’t trying to spark a whole discussion. Just wanted to give a resource.
  4. I think we should start a new thread about nobody answering their texts, emails, etc. I made this thread to share a system that has proven to work for me.
  5. I would feel like 11-14 is too short of time.
  6. Welcome! Thanks for serving youth like me.
  7. You can send photos/videos that can last 1-10 seconds and then unlimited until they close out of the photo. There’s photos and then there’s chat. Chat is can be saved and then it’s there until one person deletes it from their end. Just like a text message.
  8. I think that’s a issue for few. I know so many people that respond fairly quickly. Every single parent or scout in my troop reads my messages within 12 hours about. I can see who read it through the app as a “ class owner “
  9. Sorry to burst your bubble but you can save messages on Snapchat. You can video chat, call people, have group chats, and all that stuff. Only photos can’t be saved unless screenshotted.
  10. You can also receive a notification through the app & read it, reply to it, etc there as well.
  11. I use it mostly for parents I’ll admit I mostly Snapchat most scouts besides some of my good friends that I have in the troop I can text. I still use email for like big big big messages (there’s like a 150 word limit), but I still attach permission slips and stuff to the remind messages.
  12. Agreed, I wouldn’t want to have my child learn that selling outside a weed store makes good money. It’s not a good influence in my opinion.
  13. It’s not illegal under federal law to sell federally controlled substances.
  14. It was changed from Remind 101 to Remind, I guess to make it more “modern”.
  15. I saw on the news somewhere the council said they would let the early cookie selling date slide for this one time.
  16. Remind is a common message app where teachers can send reminders via text to students without having their numbers and vice versa. My school use it and I was like “Why not use it for my troop?”. That following Wednesday I brought it up to the adult leaders and PLC then it turns out they loved it and some scouts could relate. We’ve been using it for atleast 4 months now, and it’s obvious that improvements are made. We send messages about payments, important information, times to be someplace, etc. BUT WAIT! What if I want to send a email too? If a scout/parent has their email l
  17. I got a cooler place. Worn-down basement of an American Legion. I know a troop in town (only has 2 members left) that owns a “scout hut” basically a small building. I’ve never been to it, but it isn’t that big from what I’ve been told.
  18. Scout troops don’t usually have credit cards or even debit cards, they are really discouraged by BSA. If you can somehow find a troop that does, then if it’s possible then I don’t see why not.
  19. I had a den leader that was a mom and was better than some of the dads!
  20. What time zone though was BSA founded in because it’s 2:22 here
  21. It usually is under the Charting Organizations name and insurance. I’ve read on here that some COs don’t allow/don’t want them to and end up having to put it under a leader’s or getting a insurance separate. I never would’ve let her put it in her name. Maybe under her insurance, but in the packs name. As said someone above in another post, they have it registered with the CO but under the troops name which is most common.
  22. Ok, as many of you know I’ve done my project pretty recent. I did a project similar to the one the fathers doing, I mean scout. (I’m only 15, for those of you who don’t know.) Anyway, my project was to build 2 moving carts, put stone down, and build a horse shoepit. I used trek wood, and all that fancy stuff to ensure a good life span on the carts. I PROMISE from this part on it’ll explain why I had to give a backstory. My father was a landscaper for 20 years and is also a handyman. I asked him for help with the drawings and of course he helped me. Why would a 15 year
