Awesome! Get Baloo Training, OWLS Trained and IOLS....get all the training you can, Listen to others around you and observe while you have these fantastic outings with others from around the council. Then you will realize "Hey, we aren't doing it right" FIND that passion to lead your boys into the wild and teach them all that can be taugh, in the end the Greatest Satisfaction is them coming up hugging you and saying Thank You!

I frequently send in pictures and write ups about my pack to our local newspaper. Just remember it is fairly small town of 26k so its pretty easy for them to make space. It doesnt hurt that there is only 2 units here either.

I currently have 2 DE's, one honestly is just in training. Our DE recently left for another District so his assistant was then named DE, they hired another person as DE as well so now I have 2. Again one is relatively new and was not a scouter and the other one IS brand new and is an Eagle Scout!

good job! learn the ropes, find out what needs to be done but as others have said GET TRAINED. Not just online either, thats ok for YPT but get some on hand training.

Held our first OA election in over 10 years. Our Chapter is fairly large and combined with a couple other districts. We on this side of the river were forgotten about. Won't be anymore!

You are exactly right Stosh. I use to watch Fox, CNN and all the news networks and on top of that listen to talk radio. I would really get hot about the issues and even ran for a city council position in my town. Then I took WoodBadge! I made a vow on my way home that I wouldn't waste anymore energy on politics what so ever and have cut it ALL out together! Message Boards, FaceBook, TV or Radio. NO matter what we say, think or do it won't make a difference to these folks....they keep getting elected in!

I hope they do to. I remember walking into a Meeting with my weekend pack on and yelled to the boys "WHO wants to take a Weekend Hike" I didn't get a one. Most of my boys don't like hiking, they enjoy camping just not hiking. I want to run a Backpacking weekend with them.

When I take youths on hike and go exploring its a whole new world to them. Instead of JUST hiking i am looking for cool things to show them. Mushrooms, Funnel Spiders, holes in the trees these kids EAT this stuff up. I love taking the boys into the woods to explore

Brother Beaver I don't know how you do it! As I've said before "if it wasn't for the outdoor aspects of Scouting I probably wouldn't be involved" I also wish I enjoyed reading, sounds like a book I would enjoy someone reading to me lol. I don't have the patience for reading. Gotta find that light switch, its out there somewhere.
