I do my part by making sure all water I use gets recycled.

I keep telling everyone we need to switch to ascots instead of neckers.

Or challenging each other to see who can hit the flag the most times with the Tootsie Rolls the politiians toss out at these parades.

The course on hat etiquette went away a long time before I started grade school. Rather than chastise people, how about a pleasant conversation on the proper way to be respectful.

Girl Scout cookies. yum.

Socks! The socks should be the only official part of the uniform!

I have to carry a marine deep cycle battery with me on camping trips, must weigh 50lbs. No backpacking for me. If you use the the CPAP you are healthy. If you don't, it is just a matter of time before you keel over from stroke or heart attack or worse drift off at the wheel because you did not sleep well. If you hear someone snoring there is a good chance they have apnea. Watch out.

Well if you had reminded us before the day after maybe things would have been different.

There is a big difference between MA and TX.

I will check those out. The troop was at Klondike in May and did a ride on the Katy Trail. Nice Park and good shower facilities. Though the skeeters were obnoxious. It was funny because a pack (maybe yours) shared our area. They showed up at 6 pm set up, went to bed at 10 and were gone by the time we crawled out of our tents Sunday morning. 13 hour campout.

Bed Bugs and your unit

I was going to suggest a burner email. If you have any of MO I could use some. For the boys and myself -
Welcome! Maybe you can help me out with my current problem. Cubmaster resigned and didn't get us registered for the Beaumont lottery so we are in a pickle for a fall campout that is close by. Babler is full, Castlewood wont accept overnight groups anymore and I am not familiar enough with the area parks to know what will work. I figure we need space for 20 tents. We are in the southwest part of the county. Pere Marquette has a youth group area and great trails but is over an hour drive. The October schedule is so full of activities we are hoping for late September. Last year we did 1st week of November and earned the freeze out patch, but a lot of parents complained. Planning is not one of our packs skill sets.

Computer skills especially coding are very important, but dangerous also. Scouts can offer a an opportunity to use that great power in an ethical way.

I don't know what the answer is but transportation in certainly a limiting factor in many troops. I can see the appeal of a bus but the costs are very high. Can passengers ride in a 5th wheel trailer? If so and it is safe, that could be a solution.

With the changing technology based military, all the video games are possibly preparing the boys better for the future military than scouts can. Just a thought.

Kristian you may be right, but there are a few that tried. Susan Komen race for cure, Catholic Church, Livestrong, Exodus are a few that come to mind. -
I agree with what are saying. We do not put an emphasis on the belt loops in the program at all and the pack does not pay for them. The only belt loop we did as a den was bowling. If a boy plays soccer or baseball or whatever we will award it, it is just not part of the program. I personally am not a fan of the patch vests because they cover up most of the uniform and just look sloppy to me. I prefer a patch blanket. My den only meets twice a month so it is hard to get through a lot of electives at meetings. I encourage parents to flip through the electives once a month to keep them fresh in mind. I would love to do more crafts, it just gets hard to source all the materials. We have done a couple of the Saturday clinics at the big box stores and I am going to assign each parent this year an activity or two. The academic belt loops I think are a great addition and did a lot of them with my old pack that meet 3 times a month. Weather, astronomy, science, good manners, reading, wildlife etc. are all good ones. The upside to the the sports ones is it gets the boys active, sitting in a room all the time gets a little old. I think it is just a balancing issue, do some but don't get nuts with it. If the boy wants to do it on his own great. My oldest skipped wolf year and still had a completely full belt at crossover with no duplicates. The video game belt loop is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in scouts. Trading in beads for arrows I can't go along with you on. Just emphasize the electives and explain the purpose behind some of them, like knowing the distance between your thumb and index finger. The big time suck I had was trying to get each boy to lead an outdoor flag ceremony. It just took to much time to cycle all the boys through and the halyard on our pole was to high for them.

I would be much more concerned if he didn't use his CPAP. Apnea is only a problem when you sleep.

I don't see the back boards at courts anymore, was a big help when I was a kid. Volleyball nets are a little tall for most cubs, we have used a badminton net with some success. They don't stand up to the punishment well thought.

Why select one crew ? Shouldn't the ship sent be provisional just like the troops?
