  1. "The flag is a symbol - a privately owned one. If I choose to burn my own property, who is to stop me and why would my actions be a crime against the Constitution of the US?" Arson. Just like if you were to burn down your house-- it's privately owned, correct?
  2. E, I'm with you on that footlocker and so was mom. We found a container meant for the back of a pickup truck at Walmart for 42 instead and it's almost the same thing. And then we're gonna get a little cart-type thing so I can move it around.
  3. Hey, welcome to yesterday;) No, it was actually posted yesterday. You know, I'm gonna have to learn my stuff in one day less than most Action Center staff b/c I'm getting there the day we were assigned to be there, but now our center was bumped up a day for those who could do it. So your Scouts better like our tower;);)(This message has been edited by hops_scout)
  4. Would you burn a Bald Eagle? (question has relevance) Then dont burn Old Glory.
  5. E, I'm thinking about possibly borrowing my sister's camera. I dont know. If nothing else, a film camera will work though it will be more expensive in the long run due to needing to develop all of the shots.
  6. I took it online for Jamboree and got my card within minutes through email. I didnt enter a number b/c I was told entering the number would screw everything up.
  7. 'You would think that at some point, the parents would start to say "no".' Why? If a youth wants to do it, why not give them the chance? If you look, all the major colleges look for you to do more than just play sports; just be in Scouts, etc The way West Point describes their candidates are those who are "Renassance Men/Women"
  8. E, what kind of batteries does your camera take? Also, I have found that the 128 cards at Walmart right now are only 19.95 at least here in Waterloo:) My camera is being stupid right now, so I may be without it this summer:( So I gotta figure something out.
  9. Action Center D here.. we have to be there on the 21st. Apparently they are now asking that we in Action Center D arrive a day earlier on the 20th so we can open on Monday instead of Tuesday because somebody's troop is coming early (Eamonn;)) But I still wont be there until the 21st because my plans are set in stone and I will be in upstate New York on the 20th.
  10. I've head one similar to it on the radio numerous times.
  11. Though I have no computer stuff I could give and no money to donate, I would be willing to help in any way that I could do. I have some website design experience, but it may not be something you're looking for.
  12. You can find me at Action Center D Rappelling tower. Just ask for Hops.. chances are they'll know who you're looking for. I'm told I will have two days off and I intend to make several trips to go find people that I know from here or other boards online.
  13. No UNC, WE may not have many return customers if we were to go without ropes;) E, cant wait to meet you as well. I'll plan to give your son two JSP's if I can get ahold of them so you can have one as well;) About 40 days out... Anyway, back on topic here-- yes, I'm going to remain on the team here so the Scout influence is still there;)
  14. Our trading post serves Chocotacos:) They are ice cream with a shell like a taco and chocolate and nuts They sell out like crazy:)
  15. Typically, I'll wear swimmng trunks in the shower or something similar. I know a lot of boys do. Also, I dont know of many schools that still require showers after PE. Ours doesnt. The only time I'm REQUIRED to is after away football games we have to before we get on the bus. We've actually had one boy end up wearing his rain suit as his clothing on more than one occasion.
  16. Most likely you are A) not logged in or B) dont have the chat software installed (if not, go to the site logged in and the software should download itself relatively quickly)
  17. That is just wrong. Something has got to be wrong with the timings. I'm surprised, too, at the fact it's a 4 hour drive for a camporee. That's poor planning.
  18. I knew a man called him Sam 'the Cane' Few folks even knew his name But a hero yes was he He left a boy, came back a man Still many just don't understand About the reasons we are free I can't forget the look in his eyes Or the tears he cried As he said these words to me chorus: Chrous: All gave some, some gave all Some stood through for the red, white and blue . . and some had to fall And if you ever think of me Think of all your liberties and recall Some gave all Now Sam 'the Cane' is no longer here But his words are oh s
  19. VENTURE CREW MEMBERS can only go as STAFF. Beaver, I didnt know they allowed 1 year olds to be in Boy Scouts, much less attend a National Event like this;) His only opportunity will be going as staff. I hope to go again then as well. I'm going this year as staff.
  20. I dont know if he can see across the church that far. He'd better have his strong glasses on!
  21. E, I'm gonna have to say it's probably gone nuts. I just turned sixteen a couple months ago and a lot of my friends are now too. My best friend's brother got a car last summer when he turned sixteen. His makes sense-- It was their father's old car and they live out in the middle of nowhere. Both Andrew (the older one) and Jonathan are at school from 7-6,7,8 almost every day for something or other. It will be shared car starting in July when Jonathan gets his license. Colton, a member of our troop, turned sixteen 3 weeks ago. He has already purchased a truck or should I say his parents did
  22. Everybody needs to turn it down just a little bit. I have only opened this last page here, but there's been plenty that could be edited. I'm not going to-- I'm just going to ask that you remember the Scout Law and Oath when posting on these boards.
  23. I'd go for that:) While i do enjoy being able to converse with both Scouts and Scouters, etc having a section for Scouts only wouldnt be a bad idea. Any way you can make it work, that'd be great;) And I'll be around to help control them all!
  24. Doing something 4 days a week for a team that he isnt even going to get to play much is crazy! It's crazy a summer team like that has to practice that much anyway. Our school team practices every day, but it's almost always right after school. In fact, today, I will be leaving in 2 hours for a game. A school sport and a summer league sport are totally different. I try making it to Boy Scouts whenever I can. At times, that can be tough considering I never have a period of time where I dont have a sport going on. You just have to do it when you can.
  25. I tried quitting Cub Scouts probably every year since being a Wolf. My mom wouldnt let me. She always told me that I couldnt quit until the charter year was up. At that point in the year, I didnt want to quit. So I didnt. I'm glad I stuck with it:)
