  1. I'm going to hang out for a little bit. We had several in last night and it'd be great to get some in there tonite as well. I won't be able to hang out as long as I have lately though but there should still be a decent crowd pretty late into the night.
  2. Hey guys, it's been awhile since I've posted here letting you all know we'll be chatting. I know AK's gone for the weekend, but I'm in now and a couple more should be in afterwhile. We'd love it if you'd stop by and hang out for a little bit at least. Who knows--you may like it! http://groups.msn.com/boyscouts/chat You have to have an MSN passport name. It's easy to sign up for; you don't even have to have a Hotmail account anymore.
  3. I think you would be safer to give them away than to sell them. I have no legal knowledge regarding copyright stuff, but I would guess that if it were given away, nobody will make a big deal out of it. It's when you make money off of it that they make a fuss.
  4. I don't agree with either action conducted. But would I "possibly" insult a veteran or DEFINITELY insult Old Glory; the symbol of freedom and the symbol of the Greatest Nation on the face of the Earth?? I DON't want to insult any person who has put their life on the line for this great nation, but I ABSOLUTELY cannot stand people who insult Old Glory. People that do that drive me NUTS! And if I remember, I'm going to confront two teammates soon about respect and what it means and maybe at the age of 17 they could learn to respect the American Flag and shut up during the National Ath
  5. Two comments: First, I'll agree the issue about Scouts not being able to buy a uniform is getting old. SO IS THE COMPLAINT ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE IN SPORTS AND SCOUTS! Second, I am extremely proud to wear my uniform thank you. (yes, I was shouting above) No chilles!
  6. It may be seen from the interstate, but do Scouts spend their time in an office building? I hope not I know we try spending time outdoors-- showing off this wonderful office building council had to build with donated money doesn't make sense to me. That is the Boy Scouts of America. What is it selling? That the "professionals" don't know how to be THRIFTY like a Scout is supposed to be. Hmm.... "A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, THRIFTY, Brave, Clean, and Reverent."
  7. My JSP isn't going anywhere-- the region patch i do need to remove, but the Jamboree patch above the right pocket and the JSP on my left sleeve isn't going anywhere. So send them after me. Before putting the JSP on, I had an old CSP so it isn't like they go out of date, or anything.
  8. As well as what FScouter has said, it will also make more work for the moderators and administrators because that would definitely require rules that have to be followed. While I believe we're Scouts here and can follow a few simple rules, I know from experience that not everyone will do so. I, too, am on several other forums that do use signatures. They become too much sometimes. No thanks.
  9. Make sure and check the dates you want to search between at the bottom... The first time I tried, nothing came up b/c the dates I was looking between were December 2006 and January 2006. The second time, when I changed it to December 1997 it found them.
  10. Yes, Eagle90, I think that would. If you look, in the upper right corner (the one with the X) you'll see in the yellow portion "Welcome Back ____" That is, when you're logged in of course.
  11. That's the problem I'm running into frequently-- not taking over for the SPL. One example of this was a couple weeks ago we had a planning meeting for the next calendar year and such. The meeting started out where we were running with it together basically, but it pretty much ended up that I was running the show with his help instead of the other way around. Right now it has really gotten hard for me to get too excited to go to meetings because the SPL is one who enjoys having fun and the older boys basically do as they please-- it's not true Scouts anymore and it makes me mad sometimes b
  12. I'm gonna hang out for awhile. Just got my presents all wrapped and now to chill;) Because I havent been doing so for the last two days anyway;) Looking for some Brit to hang out with;) Let me get the rope, k?
  13. E, I love my phone because I don't pay the bill on it. The main reason I have it is for getting in contact with parents when needed. It gets used for other things too, but it costs about 20 bucks every 2 or 3 months. And hey, the phone only cost 40 bucks to start with! Luckily, it hasnt been destroyed yet even though it has been run over by a truck and dropped on concrete many times. Maybe I should have tested its durability by dropping it off the tower this summer;)
  14. You wouldnt want to see Eamonn IMing;) I'm not a big fan of IM either but I do use those programs sometimes. I got a cellphone last spring-hand me down from my sister when she got a new phone. I have the prepaid variety.
  15. Since everybody enjoys spinning this off into the sports world, it is now my turn: Say I decide that I don't like NIKE. Well, that's all my school wears for sports uniforms. What do I do? Am I going to go out and buy a "close enough" uniform so that I can wear it instead of the NIKE one and still be on the team? Truth be told I actually do like NIKE apparal and their shoes. Their company isn't the greatest, but their products are topnotch. The point still is valid Your turn KUDU
  16. So, if you're going to "make your own Troop uniform" when are you also going to write your own handbook? You're already doing away with part of the program, might as well come up with your own. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I wear the uniform of the Boy Scouts of America. I am proud to call myself a member of the Boy Scouts of America and show it proudly when I don the uniform. While I am a member of Troop XXX, I am also a member of the Boy Scouts of America-- without the Boy Scouts of America, would there be Troop XXX? Join the program, or don't.
  17. No! Your plan sounds as if you want to pick the uniform apart and only use what you like (ie the patches). If you don't like the uniform, dont wear it; pretty simple, huh? I dont care whether you wear it or not. If you are going to wear it, then wear it right and wear it with pride!! Simple solution to your camping difficulties and wearing the uniform--- on campouts don't wear the uniform! Like it has been stated before, you're not going to find a uniform that works for everyone or that everyone would agree on. I actually like the uniform. Whether I'm wearing Full Uniform or if
  18. If you don't like the uniform adopted by the Boy Scouts of America, then DONT WEAR IT!! But also dont be calling yourselves Boy Scouts and wearing an imitation uniform. I dont care if you wear a uniform at all, but I think you should. Just don't try making your own uniform and call yourself in uniform as a Boy Scout. Join a Venturing Crew for all I care-- there you go you can have your "unit uniform" Leave the uniform as adopted by the Boy Scouts of America alone!!!
  19. The pack I was a member of had two poles separate from that of the flags in which ribbons were placed. We'd carry them right along with the flags in any sort of color guard.
  20. There isn't an actual inbox; just the email messages you are getting. Why there is no message included, I do not know.
  21. Hey great ManyIrons! Today our school got quite the show courtesy of the United States Air Force. The US Air Force Presidential Drill Team (talk about a long name;)) showed off their skills during our lunch periods today. They were spectactular. Somebody today at basketball asked the coach if he thought we could get a new floor paid by the Air Force because there were some marks from their rifles and their boots. But they were still great!
  22. Backpacks are good; Camelbaks too! I'm looking at a new daypack whether with a Camelbak system built in or not. The Camelbak packs are a little on the expensive side though. A new helmet for rappelling. I have a helmet, but it is two years old so I'm going to need a new one in the near future. I could go on and on, but I won't;) One thing I would consider is giving money or giving gift certificates. I for one like to choose my equipment because what I like another person might not. Either that, or ask them specifically what they want. Camping gear should be comfortable a
  23. Our trailer has metal (sorry dont know exactly) racks that are from the old WalMart when they moved into a larger store. These work ok, but they can be a pain to get things off the top racks and to get the patrol boxes out at times. Whatever you do, if this trailer is going camping (would make sense, huh:)) make sure you don't put too much into it. That's part of our problem. Anybody need six 20lb propane tanks on one campout? How bout 20 (no joke) 2-burner Coleman stoves all in the trailer.
  24. AK and I are hanging out. More people the better.
