  1. A few of you need to watch your comments. I have just read this thread in its entirety and have found a couple of posters who could easily have things edited. I, however, did not edit them but those comments are pushing the envelope. Please remember this is not the Issues and Politics area. I do highly encourage debate, however, personal insults are not allowed. Chances are the person(s) who are at fault know who they are. Personally, I dont mind the pants. The shorts arent my favorites, but I'll live.
  2. Sounds like fun........;);) NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doing those types of things would ruin it for those already in Scouting who enjoy the program the way it is. Trust me, I understand the Scouting Movement is not very popular. Remember, I go to a high school all day long. One kid on "Geek day" for Spirit week right before homecoming wore a Scout shirt. Things I think need to happen: 1.Outdoor Program needs to be strengthened. I realize many units already do a lot of that type of stuff. But it needs to be more "enforced" and pushed a little more by Nationa
  3. Ours is 323. I think I'll stick with it considering the troop is the second oldest in the council. One year without a charter ruined it. Otherwise we'd have it by like 10 years or more. Oh well, we still outdate the council by almost double.
  4. E, you know me alright! I'm actually looking at getting another one in the near future to take. Possibly one with a little extra space in it for some little gear. Couple biners and such to wear while just hanging around;)
  5. I think our troop allocates 2.50 per Scout per meal or something like that.
  6. Try Okaw Valley Council in Belleville, IL as well. I dont know if we have a Ranger out at Camp, or not. The website says no, but last I knew we did have one. You can always try;) www.okawbsa.org
  7. It's because you are not logged into MSN. I go through that page everytime I go to the site because I dont use hotmail as my main email address. Just retype the address in up top and it should go:)
  8. Scout here.... I just recently got a pair of Scout pants. So far, I have no complaints. Might be that I've only worn them for a few meetings, sitting in the car for a couple hours, and going to Scout Sunday, but they're good to go for me! Common sense tells you to use what is best suited for the task. For meetings in uniform, these are the pants I wear. For outdoor work, I'll stick to my BDUs. If that means having multiple pairs of pants, so be it.
  9. Terry may come on and say the same thing, but for now, you got me;) I just talked to him over AOL and he said that there have been virusses uploaded to people's accounts so they have been deactivated. He thinks it's down to just the packs section now so the troops part should be back up in the very near future. The whole thing should be back up soon he thinks. Right now, everybody just needs to have patience;) and hopefully we'll have it all fixed soon.
  10. Thread locked. Please look around. There are currently 3 other threads of similar nature. There have been several. Hops
  11. Scouting's Adventures, a Bulldog Tech- sponsored site, coming soon. Scouting's Adventures is from the creative minds of several Scouts and Scouters throughout the WWW. A failed attempt in 2003 has been revived. Hops_Scout is the sole designer of the site while others will supply the majority of the information. Our hopes are to provide information to Scouts worldwide on the opportunities available to them from various troops, councils, etc Pages will include stuff on hiking, backpacking, whitewater, sailing, gear, and climbing. There will probably be more as well, but i
  12. Guys, hopefully Terry will get this figured out soon. I dont know anything about that system over on the other side of this site. I can say, though, that Geocities while will give you more space, the ads are bad. You really should try avoiding them. Check with your ISP if you need to before going there if possible. You must realize that Terry does this for a living and runs a large network, not just the scouter.com network.
  13. What is he going as, a participant with a council troop or as staff? If staff, I can help. If not, I cant:(
  14. Laura, how's it been? I'm told the the USSCOUTING.org and all of its sites are currently down because their servers crashed. It has taken them time to replace them because of the fact that they are VERY expensive. They hope to back soon, but they've been down for a few weeks now.
  15. I think I'll stick to my OD BDUs for now. But, do let us know what you think if you do order it. I have thought about it too, but like I said, I'll stick to my BDU's. Besides, I already have OD pants, but no khaki ones.
  16. Knowing him offline, I'd have to say he's kidding around some.
  17. So share with all of us your plans for high adventure in the 2005 season. My troop is going whitewater rafting at Blue Ridge Mountains on the New River I believe. I'm not going. Instead, I'll be attending the 2005 National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill. Rappelling tower;)
  18. Jamboreestuff.org has gear and such for the 2005 National Jamboree. Lots of stuff on there. Must be a registered participant in order to buy things. Must have an ID and Pin number provided to you by council. www.jamboreestuff.org
  19. "Return the Outing to Scouting" "Knot fun"--- Rappelling:) "Got help?" (This message has been edited by hops_scout)
  20. I believe that oranizations must be chartered by the US Congress in order to have the right to salute the flag as we do. On a side note, placing the hand over the heart is also considered a salute and anybody can do that.
  21. Normally, the only Scouting ads you are going to see are those that are on late at night/early in the morning. I'm talking the 3AM range, etc It's too expensive otherwise and ones you will find are normally donated space that companies have to do.
  22. Make sure and let us know when your article is going to be in there:)
  23. Similar story here.. Not related to the OA, but elections. October we were electing a new ASPL. In our troop, you're the ASPL for 6 months and then the SPL for 6 months. I was nominated. Another boy was nominated. From that moment on, the election was a complete joke. We had the SM's son, former SPL and almost an Eagle, helping the other kid cheat by changing votes! And making up more. I ended up winning, apparently by one. Had the other kid won though, I would have fought. And if that didnt work, I would have left the troop because that aint right.
  24. Remember, according to the Boy Scouts of America, there is no "Class B" uniform. Your Field Uniform consists of Tan BSA shirt, BSA shorts or trousers, green with red tops socks, a webbed or leather belt, and a hat as well as a neckerchief are optional. The necerchief being up to the troop.
