  1. Muckraker, Could you please provide a link to that?
  2. I'm currently working on a new troop site with assistance from one of the leaders. We're looking at GoDaddy.com for both hosting and our domain name.
  3. My personal site runs about 30 MB. The troop site I ran for a little bit was maybe 5. I doubt it was even that much.
  4. Hey, check out the Jamboree section over at meritbadge.net Lots of good stuff there too.
  5. I was notified that it is official, I'll be working on the rappel tower in the NER Action Center. Now, I must start collecting equipment, etc
  6. E, I realize there's some things that will be different.. I was thinking more along the lines of specific items like certain models of Camelbak, etc
  7. Alright, as you know, I'll be going as staff. I know a number of you will be going as members of council groups. Some gear needs will be different, some will be the same. I'd like people who have been to suggest stuff to get whether it's on the lists or not.
  8. Eamonn, those shirts can get expensive, but if you look around you can get them cheap too.. I have 3 sleeveless ones, two short sleeve ones, and a long sleeve one. I have another short sleeve one on the way. (Its orange b/c we have to have either orange undershirts or no undershirts for basketball since our away uniforms are orange.) And yes, football players wear them too. Actually, they are probably the main reason they came out with the things in the first place.
  9. E, PM inbound and if you get the chance, stop by the chat soon:) 9:18 PM CST
  10. The Venturing info has a checklist kind of thing for more advanced trips. It's got dates in which you should do certain things. I'll try finding something online and post it. http://bh2.htc.net/~jwood/ActPlCk.htm It might help some(This message has been edited by hops_scout)
  11. Hey, just wanted to say that I've been informed I'll be attending the 2005 National Jamboree!! I got an email today from the director of the Rappel Tower for the NER action center stating that I was on the staff at that center:) More information to follow.. E, we're gonna have to hook up;) And anyone else there of course;)
  12. We dont have any policy regarding this really. I took my CD player with me when we were going on a canoe trip. It stayed in the car at the outfitter's lot. I bought an MP3 player at WalMart recently for $50! It is small and I have a case for it. Do I plan to carry it often? Of course... I carry it most of the day at school too. Next week, we are cabin camping. We're taking a projector, DVD player, and probably a VCR. The nights are going to mainly be movie nights. During the day, we will do Scout Stuff. Hopefully, I can get my laptop fixed. If so, it will become a piece of
  13. My mom got me the one in 2001. Only reason was that she was at the Scout Shop to get me the Den Cheif's Handbook and picked it up at the same time. I still use it even though there are probably many things that are different.
  14. I dont think I'd mind seeing it as a uniform either, but thats not going to happen for awhile I think.
  15. I dont know who hold you that abou BORs, but they're wrong! I did however get a pair of official pants for Christmas. Personally, I think the pants fit pretty well, but not something I'm going to be wearing on many campouts. I'll take my OD BDUs instead.
  16. Heck, I cant even get the information I need for 2005!!!!

  18. Glad to hear he's excited. I'm currently working to get a Venture Patrol started in my troop. In fact, I was just doing some work on that stuff. I've been on the net contacting people left and right trying to gather information. First thing I want to do is get First Aid training. So I'm working with the Red Cross (sort of, they stopped contacting me about it) and MESAR (Search and Rescue unit) Guy from MESAR said they couldnt certify us, but would train us in more advanced first aid stuff.
  19. Do they sell tactical apparel as well? That names sounds familiar.
  20. nldscout, I will agree with you there. I was reading a thing the other day about the UN saying the US didnt do enough!!! We only spend twice what everybody else spends combined to aid others!!! Maybe it's somebody else's turn to step up to the plate. PS.. will be moved to Issues and Politics b/c it could turn into just that...
  21. We've got 5 or 6 wooden ones in our trailer. Not all of them are stocked properly though. In fact, I doubt I could truly tell you what is in each one or what should be. We probably have close to 10 or more Rubbermaid containers in our trailer as well. These included boxes for food, we do keep some styrofoam and paper products, some dry foods, etc Also, our first aid supplies fills a container though that needs to be gone through because most of it is probably outdated. Finally we have a container in which we keep single burner stoves and water purifiers in for backpacking and canoein
  22. States can issue IDs other than that of like a drivers' license. I think that the process is actually similar to getting a license. Check with the local Sec. of State office or a driver's center.
  23. I have gone to the movie theater more in the last 4 months than I had in the previous 3 years. I've never heard of The Terminal. I have seen Catch me if You Can. That was a good movie.
