I suppose the negative view of Woodbadge on this forum contributes to the bias. Considering our UofS has lots to leadership type classes i would think 6 days of training would count for something.

My old council banned swim team jammers and the boys had to wear trunks. I guess you could make the girls wear trunks as well. On one hand I agree the boys should be able to control themselves and not harass the girls. For the most part they manage in school everyday. However, our schools do have a dress code and crop tops and booty shorts are not allowed. I think the larger issue is the boys are going to BOY SCOUT CAMP to be boys in a fun and safe environment. T&A was not listed in the Program Manual.

Why are Venture crews allowed anywhere near a traditional BS summer camp? This needs to start at your Council. We keep the Venture Crews two miles down the lake at another camp. I bet the waterfront was a real circus.

Footloose, no never seen it. I avoid all chick flicks and musicals like the plague. My step grandfather was a southern baptist preacher and I spent many summers down in Arkansas at retreats and vacation bible schools. Dancing was was a big no no. Some boys got in big trouble for not wearing a t shirt on their way from the dorm to the swimming pool as well. I guess things are different now.

Tahawk, a joke yes. Schools get really cranky about knives, probably more so than drugs. Had to pull in a ll the "sheath" knife zero tolerance threads threads as well. We spend an awful lot of time teaching the responsible use of knives, many other cultures spend a lot of effort teaching the responsible use of drugs and alcohol. All we do is "just say no"

Most teenage boys a going to screw up big time more than once, sometimes they get caught sometimes not. To those who would just throw away to key on this boy you are making the strongest argument I have ever heard for 13 year old Eagles. If you want it better get it as fast as you can because once you get it they can't take it away and there are a whole lot of people out there who will do all sorts of things to prevent you from from getting it if you do not meet their expectations. You are likely to screw up a few times along the way and are going to need plenty of buffer time in case they descend upon you.

Probably all three but I place the most responsibility on the Scouters for making it such a BFD and failing to provide the right environment that the "Generals" want to continue to serve in.
