  1. Hmm..I need a tums just thinking about that TP! I prefer oatmeal myself
  2. I guess no one has had this problem? It also says no one has read this post... It has been up for a day so far, I find it hard to believe no one clicked on it just once. Maybe theres something wrong? I'm lost.
  3. Down below when you post, or reply do a thread it gives you this option: Do you wish to be notified via email when there is a reply to this thread? I always click yes, but lately I have not been recieving e-mails when people respond to the thread... Anyone else having these problems?
  4. I agree FOG, we have to start early on the scouts path. And yes, many kids I graduated with had thier parents filling out applications for them. Maybe this generation that I am apart of is a bit more lazy than past generations?
  5. FOG, next time bring some Tylenol! Count to 10...breath in and out...think of a happy place...it will be alright
  6. My watch tells the the date as well. I also only wear analog, but its a neat one. It has an alarm on it and is great at night, its an Indiglo. Only problem is, it's not water proof, it is water resistant though... Does not help when I jump into a pool and forget I have it on... I'm on my second watch of this kind due to water.
  7. Hmmm pack, now im getting a little nervous. Although the johnny depp style was cool...no way I'll ever be putting eye shadow on!
  8. John in KC, what is Life to Eagle 101 all about? Is it a class? No disrespect to anyone that is a part of Life to Eagle training... If a Scout is going to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, couldn't one assume that he can get there without all of this extra help? I'm sure the classes, seminars, or training times help the Scout to better understand how to fill out the forms, and what's needed with all the paperwork. I'm sure all of this is to better the Scout anyway... but is it all nesessary? (Please correct me if I am wrong. If there is no such thing as traing classes to take
  9. dana_renner, I have basically given up pondering why you always post twice. Whether you hit the button too much, impatience...or you just like to post twice, I don't know... It has come to the point where I am no longer annoyed by seeing two of the same posts... A scout is Cheerful, and he always looks to the brighter side of things... So the brighter side of you posting twice... I get to see your post in grey and white, and depending on my mood and my eyes, I can read it with the white background or the grey. I am now content in you posting twice.
  10. Pack you wear the garters too! Awesome, I break them out on occasion as well! They sure make the unifrom look neat.
  11. Well I'm still trying to track it down, but don't judge a book by its cover. I never listen to reviews, I decide for myself.
  12. Check out these website. The first one you need adobe to read it. http://www.okstate.edu/OSU_Ag/agedcm4h/pearl/insects/grdnbugs/f-7301.pdf http://www.rochedalss.qld.edu.au/stand.htm
  13. Hmmm..I'll take a look online. Laurie, this post gave me chills...I'm officially itchy...
  14. RazorTceps, in what way are you involved in scouting? I do not believe there is a perfect backpack, good ones, sure, bad ones, sure. There are pros and cons to both internal and external packs. The best way to find out which pack you will like most is to borrow from a friend each kind, and take them on a trip each. Maybe a few trips if you can not decide. Get a feel for both of them and make a decesion. Packs come in all sizes and shapes, with big pockets and small pockets, wide pockets, and deep pockets. Again, its up to you what kind you want. Dan is correct when it comes to
  15. Adrianvs, if you contact the company that makes your boots, they may have an option that they will re-sole them for you. I know L.L. Bean has an offer to re-sole any boots you buy from them...I'm not sure if it is free, I recall hearing it was...
  16. Has anyone ever seen this movie? I remember it vaguely from when I was younger. It stars: Louie Anderson, Richard Lewis, Richard Belzer, Franklin Ajaye, Tim Thomerson. It's an 80's PG comedy about: "It was their 25th Cub Scout reunion, five grown men, who peaked at age ten, get together to relive their "glory days." And if they were inept campers as kids, they're even worse as adults." I'm going to track this one down and watch it, I remember it being funny when I was a Cub Scout!
  17. Awesome! Scouts in action! Yet another highlight of the BSA. Thanks for Sharing!
  18. scoutingagain, Make sure your scouts know how to tie up bear bags. I can't remember if we did High Knoll or something else...it was a 50 miler. I know there are two different high adventure programs at Camp Powhatan. We did the one where every day we hiked to a different outpost where there was an activity waiting for us. Another program was more of a historic hike. I'm having a mind block of the name of ours... Which one are you going on? Yea, I have heard the weather is wild up on Mt. Washigton. I hope I'm ready for the challenge as well! Going to start training and getting
  19. scoutinagain, I have done the High Knoll program at Camp Powhatan. Lots of fun, great experience! Highly recomended! This summer we will be heading up to Mount Washington in New Hampshire for our High Adventure Trip.
  20. That's Ok if your Troop is 55 years old and you are only now moving into the Patrol Method. Better late than never... I agree with fboisseau, keep the boys in the NSP for about a year, until they are ready to join the regular patrols. When the time comes, let them choose where they would like to go. Have a minimum # set and a maximum # set for each patrol. The boys will work it out. If any problmes arise, let the PLC work it out and set rules or guidelines for what to do with the NSP members. Goodluck, keep us updated!
  21. I think I have had a similar problem... I live here at school in the dorms and have no norton. I have been able to connect to scouter.com fine here. But on a few trips home, when I tried to acess the site, I could not. I could not click on any topics in any of the forums...no idea why...but now come to think of it...I do have norton on the computer at home... Is that the problem? Norton? Anyone else ever encounter this?
  22. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure all of us here on the forum send out our thoughts and prayers for her family. I'll call us all to a *Scout Salute*
  23. Eamonn, your post made me content. From that one scout looking on into that sea of scouts, and saying "cool", means we are doing something right. It gave me a mental picture, I could see the endless amount of tan shirts, and a scout with a smile. It is a dufficult question why boys join Boy Scouts. All I can remember from being a cub, was I thought the uniform looked cool, and my mom signed me up. Many boys join before they can really understand what it is all about...it is just another after-school activity. The bulk of Boy Scouts come from Cub Scout, so the reasons they joine
