Ventura County Council now has NO camps; the last one is in escrow.  So, the units now have to find other resources, often farther away, raising the expenses to get there.  We technically still have some land above our lost Camp Three Falls, but it is remote and has no upkeep of the few access roads.  Still, perhaps we can find a way to use it, perhaps with water trailers and so on.  Will see.  Found it a bit ironic that the camp now in escrow was sold to a cemetery corporation.  At least they are not going to build houses.

If you guys no longer have camps I bet you get absorbed by Western LA. For such a state with such a huge population the CA councils are crazy small.

After large membership losses, Aloha Council Hawaii recently announced that 238-acre Camp Honokaia and Camp Alan Faye would be placed on the open market for sale, lease or joint venture.

"The decision has sparked outrage among Big Island Scouters who say they weren’t consulted."

I wonder if this has anything to do with the wrongful death lawsuits from that range incident a couple years ago?

I wonder what the "Trust Issues" are? I know in one council, a camp that was originally in a trust was outright donated to the scout council. The council then sold it.

Fairly common; the rank and file most often have no clue, as those running the back play are not overly communicative to the peons.  Still waiting for the announcement of our last camp which is supposedly in escrow, though no info is available for some reason.  As some may remember, they sold our primary camp with no warning already.  So we no longer have viable council camp property.

Recall before the membership drop, bankruptcy, covid, there was a push for all councils to publish a 5 year plan?  Don't see that as much, maybe because goals were seldom met and a turn to the short term  - merge and monetize.
