With the recent bitter cold, we reduced our planned outdoor activities.  Indoors, our scouts played UNO, Phase 10, Risk, and Kim.

What indoor games do your scouts favor?

Chess and Monopoly are favorites with this particular group.  A few years ago the big favorite was Apples to Apples.

Ditto on Chess. That is what got my oldest involved with the troop. Other games include Skipbo, Spoons, "Boy Scout," and Dungeons and Dragons. Our D&D game took a LONG time with 19 players, most of whom never played before.  But growing up, we played D&D with that many, and it was a little faster.

 

One that my family play that I keep meaning to test on my scouts is a variation on charades.

Each person player has 3 pieces of paper and has to write on them the name of a book, a film and a TV show respectively. Fold them up and put them in a bowl. The group is then divided into two teams.

Someone from team one has one minute to take pieces of paper out the bowl and describe whats on them to their team and the team has to guess what it is. They can pass on one. The bowl goes to the other team and back and forth a minute at a time.

When all the bits of paper are used you add up the scores.

Then to round two.... the same bits of paper go back in the bowl and it works same as before but who ever is picking the bits of paper has to mime.

The to round three and this time you have to describe it using just one word.

Great fun! I just keep forgetting to suggest it to the scouts.

In his first year, my son came back from camp and he enjoyed Exploding Kittens.   We are also into playing Munchkin recently.  

We kick them out the door.  It's winter camping, they need to be sledding and having snow ball fights.

I'm with Stosh, our favorite cabin game is "go outside and run around."

After that, Risk, some card games, and some electronic trivia/charade game who's name escapes me.
