Tree house count as a camping night ?
King Ding Dong replied to King Ding Dong's topic in Advancement Resources
I don't know about the electric cord but if it involves a satellite dish it is definitely not camping. -
The past few days I have been considering converting to LDS. The voluntold approach is looking better and better. Only problem is I like my vices.

Tree house count as a camping night ?
King Ding Dong replied to King Ding Dong's topic in Advancement Resources
Q, maybe we should hook up the boys to biometrics every night to make sure they actually fell asleep. You no sleep, no points for you! Speaking of cope I took the instructor training two weeks ago and it about killed me. Had a couple of venturers in my patrol and this one female said this was the first time she has done high ropes without a blindfold. She said she has done it 4 times starting at 14. I was speechless. -
Tree house count as a camping night ?
King Ding Dong replied to King Ding Dong's topic in Advancement Resources
I waffle on this but it seems the intent of the Camping MB is tent or under stars. So even a cave wouldn't count. OA seems a little more relaxed in the requirements so I guess a cabin would count. I know when the PLC requested this they were just looking for something fun and different to do. They still had to cook outside, haul their gear 1/4 mile and suffer a 28F night outside. That's what it's supposed to be about I think. Anyway, I asked our DAC and he said they count for camping MB and OA so not some hill I want to die on. -
I suppose on could take the view that there is a high likelihood teenage boys would finish off the cups of beer if they were to be handling them.

I don't see how this has any thing to do with the "homosexual lifestyle". I am not even sure what that means and how is it different that the "heterosexual lifestyle"? Last I checked the "gay agenda" is for marriage not divorce.

We stayed in these a few couple of months ago on a climbing weekend and they contain wook bunks. Three walls, no electricity except for the adult house. There are one or two scouts who it could make a difference for OA or Camping MB. Not exactly pitching a tent or under the stars. http://scoutingmagazine.org/issues/1001/d-coolcamps.html

Scout Master refusing to give the Bluecard
King Ding Dong replied to Scout_Daddy_74's topic in Issues & Politics
It is a hard lesson to learn but EVERYTHING you consider important in the BSA should be copied or photographed before it leaves your hands. Some on this board would like to see children learn that lesson themselves so expect some harsh criticism for "managing your Scouts career". I prefer to inform them beforehand and teach them how to us the technology to protect themselves. Then make a backup myself so a child is not punished for the failure of an adult. -
Your best bet is to talk to your council climbing chairman. I am a bit surprised they let Tigers on the tower but maybe it is only up to a certain height. The equipment our council uses would probably not fit the smaller lower level cubs very well, in fact my council does not let Webelos use the facilities at all even though National permits it.

Guys you are making this to hard. Think old school. Put them all on a strip of microfilm or fiche and call it a day. All you need is a flashlight and magnifying glass and you are good to go. -

I am missing the CBS reference here.

Resting vs elementary backstoke
King Ding Dong replied to Sidney Porter's topic in Open Discussion - Program
You are not the first one to have issues with this language. The "an" easy resting backstroke indicates that there is more than one option. I am unaware of any other than the elementary backstroke. So I like Skeptics's interpretation. My oldest hates that stroke and I love it for resting while distance swimming. I am fat and he is very, very thin. It is a very necessary skill to master however, because the inverted whip kick is essential when performing a rescue. I have seen some guards who will flutter, but for most it is to tiring to flutter with a rescue or the brick test. -

"Show me" is how we handle that one in MO -
A sub is a lot bigger than a car! But I get the point, I like big tents.

when is the best time to switch packs
King Ding Dong replied to Wishfulmom's topic in Open Discussion - Program
I think you are just wasting your time by staying for the summer. I am sure you can find a positive Cub experience elsewhere. -
Now that could be different. Junk Yard camping. Bet the GTSS hasn't thought of that one yet.

Your lucky you have parents that read beyond the first five sentences of an email.

Should we force Scouts to listen to Old Goat music ?
King Ding Dong replied to King Ding Dong's topic in Council Relations
I was more of a Cure, New Order, Echo and the Bunnymen, DM, Thrill Kill Cult, REM, OMD kid myself so I don't know the names of all of them. There was some Simple Minds, Poison, Rage Against the Machine, Charlie Daniels (that devil/fiddle song), Chili Peppers. My wife is a music junkie as well, she has worked in radio for 25 years. Trouser Press Record Guide was on the nightstand until smartphones came along. My boys are not going to be able to slip anything past her. It was funny because before half the songs he had to preface it with "next we are going to play xxxxxx, but with out the bad words". -
