  1. No, but I think it is a good idea. On the den level, we have just collected money from the parents for supplies or activities. Just the culture of the Pack why we moved here two years ago. You are in the position to help set the culture,
  2. Welcome to the forum. The spectrum is large. Some Packs have well established fundraising programs and can fund lots of activities, others like mine are less fundraising intensive. I am not saying this is the best way to go but our Pack tries to keep registration costs as low as possible ($80) to fund awards, pinewood derby, blue and gold and then make all other activities such as camping, fishing hayrides, den supplies etc. ala carte. Popcorn fundraising has been on a steady decline for us, but a few boys go gangbusters with it. My schedule is September and October is to hectic to get o
  3. A well meaning aunt bought my boys some fluorescent lanterns a few years ago they were cheap and not very durable but came with a FOB. Was great for showing off my Jedi powers on Cub campouts.
  4. They may be able to make this campuses tobacco free. Smoke Free has been proven impossible.
  5. It would appear the rules for Cubs and BS differ. IOS 8 won't let me paste a link but the BSA website clearly states for Cubs to wear the complete uniform or no parts at all. You can't even just wear the hat. By implication I suppose you can't even wear just the socks either. That said I wear my own chosen socks. BSA socks suck. Sorry, they just suck. On top of that the no matter which style I buy the sock aliens abduct one and only one of that style. I actually like the pants and have picked up a few pair of the nylon ones they are clearancing at my local shop for $15. Hard to bea
  6. The OP could very well be talking about me. I am a squeaking wheel and the only one currently willing to be CC. Without my signature on the charter come December 31 there is no Troop. (As you all know I am IH, CM and DL as well). To the OP, my new SM and ASM are fresh out our IOLS (intro training) and have no clue what GTA and GTSS mean, so yes I am sure I come across as overbearing.
  7. If you are on the program side, make sure you are running a top notch program. Then ask for his support in implementing that program.
  8. "develope my beliefs" IMHO seems more in line with what the BSA wants its members to do. "duty to God" could mean "do absolutely nothing" depending on one's belief system. I am sure most will not see it that way.
  9. Your Jedi mind tricks will not work on these Scouts!
  10. Oh, I forgot the best part. Then the Webelos should break out and sing Mel Brooks' The Inquisition for History of the World Part 1 and ask the DL to sign off on his Showman Activity Badge.
  11. Fred, we are generally on the same page on this stuff. I don't see a problem with 2D. "Mr. Den Leader, my item is to never question anyone about their faith, no matter how tempting that is. So everyday this month I did not question anyone about their private religious beliefs. I feel much closer to God now. Sign here, please."
  12. G Sure, my God would approve. He would give me another and then we would laugh about it over a beer on how we screwed over the Devil.
  13. Neither did I but operating heavy machinery sure would have been a blast.
  14. The Lions thing for Kindergarten has been bantered around for a while. It has been in pilot in at least one council. Can't paste right now. Google northern star council lions.
  15. I tried the whole Spock thing. Didn't work. Not enough Vulcan blood. Pain level 11.
  16. Get kidney stones? You will have your hand around the doctors neck if he doesn't give you better drugs. We all have our breaking point. Kidney stones are mine.
  17. Just remember you have not left the unit until you have your names removed from the Charter at your Council Service Center. When you do that the $8/)$ will hit the fan because this positions will have to be filled asap.
  18. Just stay away from the talk radio drug of choice OxyContin. That's stuff is serious. Ask Rushbo.
  19. Drop the 20 freaking mini Merit Badges from Webelos and get them out camping. Not Cub Family Camping with mom yelling at him not to get his britches wet, just fun camping. Get ride of "Camp promotion" as a requirement for Brotherhood and have the brotherhood candidate be a weekend Webelos campout counselor. Just put some REAL adventure in the program and drop all the class room stuff. The insane part is we do Webelos mini merit badges, then t-1 we discourage merit badges and focus on skills. Then back to Merit Badges.
  20. I quite six or so years ago. Never have been able to break to nicotine habit though. Spend $60 month on the Wally World mint lozenges. Maybe should try the benzo route sometime, just have to find the right doctor who will give me enough.
  21. That stuff is like candy. Oxycodone is what you want.
  22. If you want in on the inside joke we are all referencing here head over the Open Discussion and check out "when are den dues to excessive?" It is a fun time. Oh, and watch out for our junkyard dog. His bark is worse than his bite, we recently let him out of the basement.
  23. Or they guy who shows up with a case or two of Monster.
  24. Q, is right. Some of us are just pure MEAN. You may not like the answers, but we try.
