  1. They are, In a sense, making legal advice. Yet I think it important to read the Notice: at the bottom of their web page which states this not legal advice.

  2. Actually, it isn't. For example, that page doesn't have the other Lutheran award for adults. So, again, one must go to their denomination / religious group and see what is offered. Thus the "bottom line" is much more complicated. That is more the "top line".

  3. Was the Coalition Town Hall recorded and available somewhere? I was on staff teaching a merit badge at a camporee most of the day. Something "Scouting" other than bankruptcy!

  4. I’m glad to hear this. Green shoots that scouting will survive and thrive because the dedicated unit volunteers are the heart of scouting. BSA was formed by Congress ostensibly to ensure “high standards” are met. Here we are as a result. Smaller scale scouting will allow for experimentation and differentiation in programs and risk prevention. As for insurance, you can get it but it won’t cover sexual abuse. Those exclusions are near universal now. Knowing of the risk exposure makes people and organizations more careful which is a good thing.

  5. Not replacing MJ with another external CSA expert is a disaster of a decision. It is fueling the anger in each of these speeches. If MJ wasn't working out, they should have hired a new CSA external expert. This was a major unforced error. This ignores everything else and assumes firing MJ was the correct move. This was under Mosby and he should be dismissed due that move regardless of anything else. There may be more reasons, but I feel that is enough.

  6. Interesting ... he has others that worked for BSA with him.... so he is not alone. That would be tough when there are multiple people who worked for BSA reforms. ALSO WOW, BSA withheld findings from him while he was in his role. If that is true ... that could be criminal.

  7. I stood with my daughter at cookie booths. Cookie booths. Broad daylight. Registered adult leaders (GSUSA style). Background checked.

  8. It is interesting that MJ believed that he worked for Scouts BSA instead of the Boy Scouts of America. He did not know that Scouts BSA is the name of a program. Does not discredit him but does make one wonder how well he understood the programs.

  9. If a professional consultant or board member's resume showed a 10 year director position where he/she had continuing unresolved issues, I imagine that consultant or board member would perform career damage control. Anyway, a possible explanation as to timing and motive. My $0.02

  11. Obviously we will need to let this play out. I've seen much, much lower level individuals come out with claims after being laid off including calling regulatory agencies. Most of the time that was just false acquisitions (or misleading statements) made by an upset individual. Clearly other times they are completely legitimate. We will have to wait and see. 1) We don't know for sure who this is and the timeframe it is based on. 2) We don't know what evidence the individual has and if it is opinion based or evidence based (or some combo) 3) If it is someone that recently lef

  12. My SE did take adverse action...removed me from all council and district positions...and never had the courtesy to let me know...had to hear it from other volunteers when they were submitting rosters for training staffs and renewing district/council positions.
