OK, for those interested here is some more info I have gotten. The way our council is doing this is a pack can chose to sponsor a Lion den. The Den uses the LFL Seekers book for its basis. It is quite frankly all most the same as old tigers program. They can attend pack meetings and do things like PWD, but they are registered as LFL members. There in lies the rub If you run this as a COED program like one council is (name withheld) then if a young lady joins she can only do it 1 year, then what? KC9DDI Female adault leaders that are only venturing advisors cannot become members of the OA. You must be affiliated with a troop who nominates you or be a district member. Thats the only way an adult can become a member. I don't see what is so hard for people to understand. OA is a Boy Scout program area honor society. They don't allow cub leaders to be members either. I am in Hiawatha Seaway based in Syracuse NY. We are one of 3 or 4 councils that are the test bed this year. The program is based on the LFL Seekers program book. Looking at the numbers I would have to ask why was there so few voting members there. 81 is what I counted, where were all the rest of the COR's? Maybe the problem is only the radical left showed up to vote.

Our council in NY is one of the test bed councils. Last I heard they had close to 800 in program. I haven't heard how its going, but I will ask and let you know

The problem is for some of us if we didn't do winter camping we would be resticted to a few months each year. There is nothing so invigerating as getting up at 5am in -30 degree weather and having to dash to the "Pee Tree".

You should infact ask each driver to see thier license each time your going to put them on a tour permit. You would be surprised of the number of people that have a suspended/revoked license. In my court we suspend licenses every week of ordinary every day people who have done something dumb.

First off, the BSA hasn't beeen found liable. Just one investagator said they were. No admission of liability, no finding of guilt. It may be very hard to find them liable at all and even then, they probably will compromise.

We use a solid time tested mathamatical formula when we have to figure something like this 1. Take the number of Cubs 71 2. Divide by percentage expected to attend. Since this is PWD so 85% this is 60.35 or 61 scouts. 3. Figure each Cub will come with family. 60% will come with 2 parents and 1 sibling, 20 percent 2 parents, 2 sib's, 10 percent 1 parent, 5 percent 1 parent 1 sib, 5 percent with whole family to include grandparents, uncles& Aunts, AKA the whole mob. this equals 196.5 people, lets say 197. 4. So this is 258 people at 2 hotdogs per person or 516 hotd

This is exactly why we have youth's getting in serious trouble, because someone pooh poohed what they did when it appeared to be minor crimes. Then they figure, what the heck, I got away with this forgery, why not forge a check, the banks will make it good. Then whats next? If this is the attitude in your area, no wonder crime is so rampant in Atlanta.

BRENT, Maybe where you are you law enforcement people are lazy and would tell you this, but I doubt most would. A crime is a crime, we take it serious where I come from. Maybe it would just be youth court, thats why they have it, but something should be done. Any officer of the law that told this to someone and as a Judge I found out about it, would get a serious lecture from the bench. Oh by the way, forging your parents signiture on a note is a crime also.

I heard through a friend at this council there is more to this story and possibly pending legal action against several individuals. Me, I will wait for the rest of the story
