    • Our troop doesn't meet Thanksgiving week,  the last 2 weeks of December,  spring break and not a regular monthly meeting in June (summer camp) or July (high adventure).  We will meet with who is going on those trips for planning.   Pick up weekly 1st week of August.   We will also cancel some meeting for weather.  Generally if school cancelled after school activities we don't meet.   We camp or have a day activity once a month for 10 months of the year.
    • Why cant they do the SMC prior to the BOR? In many units I have been in, that has been the case.
    • Regarding my.scouting, 1. BSA's IT system sucks. I have had so many issues with it over the years, I and many others do not trust it.  2. Some areas of the country have poor to no internet connectivity (believe it or not there are indeed areas with no internet providers), that email is not viewed as a primary communication source. Heck we have folks begging for classroom YPT/SY training becuase of poor internet.
    • In light of the Liberty Mutual filing, I’ve been thinking about this post: The Bates approach being accepted really hung survivors out to dry. If implemented, unfortunately, the operative information needed to provide to the trust was not that the abuse happened, but that someone else was also abused by the same person. On par with the unfairness of the SOL.  A dude with the worst abuse by one (known) abuser in a 10% state: $2.7MM reduced by 90% and then again by 90% receives $27k.  I thought the SOL information was fairly detailed when people voted on the plan. That there could be a 90% reduction based on whether other (living) scouts put in a claim about the same person was not really apparent.  Maybe this was the best way to maximize insurance coverage but it definitely seems unfair and unexplained.
    • We got notification that there will be Boards of Review this Tuesday.  It's starting to feel like there's an intent to hold him back.  Normally the BOR night is the second Tuesday.  The plan was for him to have his SM conference this Tues so he's ready to go next Tues.  All of a sudden, the BOR gets moved up a week, so he can only do Second Class, even though all he needs for First Class is the SM conference.
