  1. You would have to see the actual costs and the money saved. If it was a 10 year payback I would think that was reasonable. With the rising cost of gas and electricity and if it is in a cold weather climate it could have been a smart move.
  2. Either way a smart move. The coalition and/or the BSA should have never protested the email blast.
  3. This was a very smart move on their part and shows all that they are more about survivors than personal egos.
  4. That is only $17 per person per weekend....sounds like a deal.
  5. Surely you cannot be surprised. I have found the integrity of the TCC and its legal team to be top notch.
  6. This might be why the coalition is pushing for the low ball offer. If a majority of their claims are bogus they know those claimants will want the $3500. Their piece of that might be worth more than their legitimate claims.
  7. Does this mean you are in favor for a Chapter 7 liquidation of BSA? That would give you one less youth organization to compete with for members correct? I get down voted for questioning someone who wants to create their own non profit scouting? And for giving my opinion on the amount the LC's are contributing to the plan. Which by the way is an opinion held by survivors and non survivors alike.
  8. As a survivor I would say unsuitable and from the bankruptcy point of to be channeled the amount offered is supposed to be significant. When you look at the total liabilities 600M is not significant.

  10. The LC's offer is 600M. If the plan passed that would get all LC's off the hook now and if other states open up their SOL's they won't be affected (essentially bankruptcy protection without paying the price). The TCC's and many of the law firms say that is to little to get those protections and have sent the LC's BRG dashboards that show larger amounts that could be contributed.
  11. Barry it is a mindset and I am a survivor of Child Sexual Abuse. I choose not to be a victim.
  12. No matter what the LC's offer was much to low and the and the BRG analysis of the LC's show that. On top of that the only people who will decide on the low ball offer will be survivors. It is a far stretch of imagination that even 75% of survivors would vote yes and more that that would more than likely have to.
  13. The TCC. Even the BSA says combined the LC’s have over 2 billion in assets.
  14. No one has said they have billions in hidden assets but the do have billions in assets that are in the open.
  15. I agree. I miss both of them for their insightfulness and ability to bring clarity to issues. I also miss @ThenNowfor his humor and self deprecating attitude that not everyone appreciated. I miss @CynicalScouter also for his passion and his honesty. Many a time I posted something wondering if it would pass muster with him and if he made a comment back to me I knew it would be his truth. Once again something not always appreciated. I believe the loss of both of these men on this forum is a loss for the forum community no matter which side of the issues you believe in.
  16. TCC’s email went out over the Kosnoff email. They had to eat a little crow.
  17. Swaying the vote is what all lawyers do. Otherwise we would just have the packet without letters and no communication with lawyers.
  18. I have made this statement before. While living in Canada my daughter was in Girl Scouts. In order for my wife to accompany her on an overnight she had to have a background check done by the RCMP and we had to pay for it. We did and did not complain.
  19. BSA only started to get serious about youth protection policies when they started to get sued and lose. I didn’t say it wasn’t serious now but every program has room for improvement.
  20. I am sorry I confused you. Glad you understood the overnight part. As far as litigation goes all I am saying is that only when litigation started did organizations get serious about YPT. Even USA swimming has tightened its controls only as a result of litigation.
  21. How about no non registered adults on any overnight campout? As the previous poster said how does litigation make it safer for I will ask you if there had been no litigation against youth organizations would it be as safe as an environment now or would we have less controls. I have experience with youth as my daughter was a competitive swimmer for about 8 years.
  22. Of course not all the victims of child abuse are not litigants…..some are dead, some are so mentally unhealthy they can’t function and some are so embarrassed and have no self worth they cannot or will not come forward. Which orginazation are you alluding to has 10 times the amount of abused youth. If you actually know of one and care about protecting youth please come forward and protect those youth. I am pretty sure that no where have I bragged about how this case will make youth safer but now that you bring it up I will. And as for hard evidence I don’t think you need to be a genius to correlate stricter controls will make youth safer. I am sure all youth organizations are looking closer at their own programs with the litigation that has happened within multiple orginazations hence litigation makes all youth safer.
  23. It was done because the coalition in the name of AIS sent out a packet without a letter from Tim Kosnoff.
  24. I would like to add that I feel like they are always confident. No matter what they come across as hey we have this...don't worry....we are all in this together. It is never doom and gloom.
  25. Seems like two members of this Coalition/YPT advisory committee may; have quit according to Tim Kosnoff. My guess is that they did not want to be part of the dog and pony show.
