Do you have a figure above zero that would be tolerable? would you be able to get a room together of 100 youth and tell 1,2,3,4, or 5 of them that they would be sexually abused but that is within our tolerance levels. Those discussions will happen no matter how much sex education is taught (and I am in favor of more sex education). Todays children are exposed to much more sex than obviously when I was growing up. Average 13 to 15 year old I am sure knows more about the mechanics of sex than I did. There is much more consensual sex between 13 to 15 year old children then ever before. Unfortunately my first sexual encounter was with 2 20 year old boys/men and it was not consensual. The real child sex abuse is from sex predators and predators are not having consensual sex.

So guess what friends having curious private discussions is not sex abuse and I am 99.9% sure that no one has called that as such. But this is what I mean by minimalizing by alluding to curious private discussion as being part of a 50% figure.

This is where you are correct. You are rationalizing that everything you believe must be true. Yesterday one of the gentleman was quoting statistics. It is known that males that are abused don't speak out until their mid 30's so the majority of guys talking about their abuse now had it occur 20 to 30 years ago. if you were abused in 2010 it will be 2030 0r later before you hear the abuse in that period. And no it is not a proven program...listen to the experts.

It is amazing to that yesterday 4 experts in the field of CSA spoke out about CSA in BSA and today members of this forum are trying their best to minimalize what was said. What would it take to make some you believe this is still a big issue?

The rape of a child by an adult in the 40's 50's 60's and 70's was a crime, considered as deviant behavior and was not blamed on the child.

I just did a quick google search and it said murder has no statute of limitations. Might have to do a deeper dive.

The majority of the IVF contains names of people who had no criminal complaints filed against them. Some even admitted their guilt and there was no criminal complaint. Including one of my abusers. Publish his name and maybe someone can track him down. He only abused 11 to 13 boys in my troop (that part is sarcasm).

At this juncture if I was a a current scout leader I would have serious concerns about Nationals leadership abilities and their legal representation. They negotiate a settlement with Hartford that has wholes so big in it you could shoot 18 wheelers thru it. They saddle up next to the coalition lawyers basically ignoring the TCC and now it appears they have a major PR disaster on their hands just when they put out a settlement that most claimants appear to totally dislike (at least I have not heard of one claimant giving support). What is next?

Even Uber and Lyft require background checks. I know of someone who wasn't able to be a Lyft driver because of drug and assault convictions 20 years ago. Funny though Uber allowed him to drive.

My ex wife had to go to the RCMP in Canada for a background check before she was allowed to go on an overnight with our daughters Girl Scout/Girl Guide troop. And we paid for it out of our pocket.
