  1. Ours appears to be a standard template design, but has lots of information useful to me! http://www.nlcbsa.org/
  2. I have seen it before, but its such a good speech, and Mike is such a great role model, i just sat through it again
  3. Here we are, 8 months after first Starting this discussion and I am closing in on completing my ticket! I have 4 completed, with the 5th to be in the works starting Monday. Troop elections are coming up, and we (scoutmaster and I) have heard from scouts they they are interested in becoming Den Chiefs (my final ticket goal is incorporating DC's into my pack). Once the elections happen and the boys get trained, we are set! been a stressful journey that's for sure, but it is definitely one I'm glad I took! I used to be a Fox!
  4. We had an incredible opportunity to fall into our laps this year! We are a small (20 boys) pack in an extremely rural area. A local Hunting/fishing sporting goods store holds a yearly event called "Kids Outdoors" it focuses on showcasing activities for kids to do outside. This event has drawn nearly 300 kids in previous years Our council has a portable rock wall./climbing tower. We just so happened to have it reserved for the day of this outdoors event and was planning on setting it up elsewhere. Well word got around that we were bringing in the rock wall and the sporting goods store
  5. In my District/Council we are able to do it this way
  6. The new Prize provider seems to have a much greater choice of prizes. better quality prizes IMO as well.
  7. We are chartered by an Civic Organization American Legion/VFW type of group.. I had a leader come to me and express his concern regarding the membership change and how they might not be able to continue with the program. Being in an extremely small community I didn't think this would ever effect us. Hindsight shows how naive I was. I immediately went to my DE to ask for advice on how to handle this, and to get some clarification on what the vote actually meant. I was told that unless you are chartered by a religious institution your CO does not have the option to choose. Because of l
  8. Troopmaster/Packmaster sure seem to be a clunky antiquated system.....I did not like it one bit when we used it.
  9. Ahhh you are speaking to my council Northern Lights council to be exact. You forgot northwest Minnesota and 2 counties in South Dakota as well. but i'll let that pass! hahaha According to our last annual report we have 6,917 Cub Scouts, 2,356 Boy Scouts, 534 Venturers, 1476 Exploring/Learning for Life Participants. Total Available Youth 89,517: with 11,283 youth as members giving us a 10.95% of youth served in 397 Units. I don't know how this relates to the conversation, or compares to the rest of the country. but its rare i see anyone mention our council and felt i wanted
  10. it is if your chartered by a non faith based organization. I found this out the hard way the past few days.
  11. great, thats how I felt on it as well! And most likely was what I was going to do. I just wanted some moral support from the scouter bretheren lol
  12. With the new program, I have a question about Webelos and Arrow of Light adventures. I have a group of 1st year webelos (Webelos I) that are going to be attending a pack campout. Are they able to work on requirements for the "Camper" adventure as Webelos. Or can the Arrow of Light adventures only be earned during the Arrow of Light (Webelos II) year? They will be there and doing the requirements anyway, I just was curious if we could award them the pins for this, or if it had to wait until next year.
  13. you aren't the only one. Communication between parents and the pack/troop is difficult. We communicate well to them, but its difficult getting replies or responses from folks. I don't think you are alone.
  14. its true, i was disappointed when i found this out as well, partly nostalgia, partly because my son was a wolf last year and earned wolf arrow points, but now his bear side will look empty.
  15. The Rank Patch is the same, with the exception of the Tiger Rank. They have dropped "cub" from the rank being just "Tiger" now. I'm not sure where or why the august deadline was given to you as the program runs from June 1 to May 31. If your scout has not earned the rank by then he must start working on the next rank on June 1. (LDS units I believe may be different however. If that pertains to you, I apologize as I'm not familiar with LDS rules) this is how I understand it, if i'm incorrect, i'm sure someone will chime in
  16. I'm more disappointed in the skyrocket in the price of the "immediate recognition" aka belt loops. Previously 5.99 gave you a kit that lasted all year, per boy. Now its 1.39 per boy times 7....at minimum.....
  17. met with my ticket counselor yesterday! I am officially 3/5 of the way completed! should have the whole shebang completed by early/mid September!!
  18. these boys from Troop 325? Something like this was posted on Northern Lights Council's Camp Wilderness' facebook page from this week. https://www.facebook.com/CampWildernessScoutCamp?fref=ts if I have this wrong, I apologize for hijacking the thread
  19. I envision us using the "advancement" time early in the year to recognize those that may have earned any adventure loops. While they should have already physically received them by the time the pack meeting happens, its good to still recognize them in front of the entire pack.
  20. Would that be rubber shrapnel? lol
  21. that was done at our day camp over the weekend as well.
