  1. I do... National has said no to GL leaders (not going into the current PC alphabet soup) Even though they may be parents of a scout. and have full legal marraige. as of now what do we do with those parents / families. because a family that comes to scouting because their boy wants t. That boy is a highly motivated scout. and we are shutting that family out and losing the resources that they would bring to the table.
  2. Sentinel.... not directed at you or I would have quoted you or specified by name e.g. this post
  3. Qwaze i do totally agree with that. I am sorryi should have phrased it better.
  4. And if a new scout shos up at your dn / troop meeting and says here are my 2 dads / moms? Are you really going to turn them away and make them feel uncomfortable. Deny the beenfit of scouting to this non-traditional family? deny the boy the all the oppirtunites that scouting gives? me personnally i would try to integrate them as much as we can.
  5. They had one season of Are you tougher than a boy scout you can still you tube it.
  6. Looks like you son is looking for more adventure than the troop is providing. Have him take a POR and be part of the TLC so he can put some input into what activities he wants.
  7. Lol Kdd. are you suggesting a fund raising activity?
  8. totally agree but the girl scouts use this a marketing to girls. this age group brownie - junior. Girl scout Digital Arts / Science and technology badges: Brownie - Computer expert / Home scientist Junior - Entertainment Technology / digital photography Cadette - digital movie maker / science of happiness Senior - science of style / website designer science of style is at least real science
  9. I think a larger concern is that the pack is an arts and crafts club. I think we lose ALOT of boys to this. please get them on at least day hikes. and a family camping trip. Once they transition to Boy scouts time to wake up and learning curve is STEEEP if they have little to no experience camping. Try to get a den cheif from your Boy Scout troop to help.
  10. WOW. this is a preattyl cool thing. the Olyimpic team got Ralph Loren and BSA had Oscar de la Renta. well at least we did. Who designs them now? Perhaps the BSA should do a Project Runway episode. although i am in favor of the green numbers not the red.
  11. OK so for about the nth time of hearing us scouters complain about STEM and how STEM is going to destroy the outdoor traditions of scouting. My position is: STEM is required for our boys to lead the world in the next 10-20 years. STEM has always been a part of scouting. e.g. 1911 merit badges, chemistry, scholarship. STEM does not mean classroom. The fact that some Troops, districts and counsels make it class room is not STEM's fault it's the people running STEM. Give them ideas to teach STEM WHILE outdoors. See that shooting star? hey how fast was that thing moving? how high
  12. This was probably a simple mistake on the cubmasters part. illegible or incomplete forms and he took a swag. This isnt little league where people fudge a bithdate to get a 13 yo on your 9-10 yo team to get a championship.
  13. Hopefully with these new outdoor badges the moms won't have a choice. GS to moms. Get your girls inthe wild asap
  14. My daughter is a jounior and loves the outdoor part of G S. Not as much as her brother and the crazy Boy Scouts and would prefer a cabin in the woods vs a tent. But even at 9 she gets why that doing a sleep over at a museum isn't camping.
  15. 1 had 6 scouts at camporee. :But why cant youo incorporate the STEM into camping they are not exclusive!
  16. After reading the article and the reference data of more than smores report it looks like girl scouts is realizing that scouting without the outing is failing.
  17. Ummm someone on national on this board? This was on the facebook post this 13 hours ago: https://www.facebook.com/scoutingmagazine
  18. perhaps you should go to geography cass instead of sunday school it New Zealand not the UK. Besides what else has been the same for 100 years? Baden Powell did ALOT more to scouting than introducing religion into the scouting oath. He was a man a great man and a flawed man, his word for lack of a better term is not gospel. Lets take the good he did and move forward with that. TBH i hate the this religion thing is tearing scouters apart. scout should be about what scouting is about, being outdoors, doing good for the community and nation, making boy the men that will lead t
  19. One idea for the ashes. If you have a home camp site. i.e. you go to this one 2 or three times a year. take the ashes from the flag burrning ceremony and put them in the fire pits of your campfires as your camp though out the year. it makes a great lights out. and get the boys to reflect about their role in our nation.
  20. Stosh in my faith yes. Good and evil must balance for without evil there is no good
  21. I don't see how a Buddhist can perform these as stated. This is scary you will believe how national dictates you will believe.
