John, The Venturing Silver Award carries over as does the Sea Scout Quartermaster. I've heard rumblings that the Venturing Leadership Award will also soon have a square knot to go along with the neck medallion.

I never miss buying tickets, selling tickets, and attending a Friends of the NRA Dinner. A great American organization who fights the good fight.

Question about a boy
LovetoCamp replied to Senior_Patrol_Leader_T15's topic in Open Discussion - Program
What is this highly motivated 11 year old doing wrong? Isn't "First Class, first year" a goal for everybody? How else does one pass a test without memorizing the subject matter? Are you older boys letting his being a nuisance cloud your judgement over him completing the requirements. If scouts can join at 10 1/2 years old, and are put in a NSP where First Class first year is the goal, how old will they be then? I wish I had some Sea Scouts with some more motivation towards advancement. -
Do Venturers really care about Venturing's History

Question about a boy

If he's memorized and performed all the requirements, that ought to be a slam dunk on his part, wouldn't you agree? -
Now next week, if one or two smart-alecky Sea Scout Boatswains from downstate Illinois start posting accusations and bad situations about their skipper and propose mutiny, don't buy into it.

Distinctive Dress Identity for Venturing
LovetoCamp replied to dana_renner's topic in Venturing Program
you're correct -
Is it only me, or does anyone else notice that every week someone stops by all dissatisfied shopping for ammunition to oust a Scoutmaster, a Chartered Rep, an Advisor for what seems to me nothing but personality conflicts between parents. Isn't a unit commissioner appointed by the District commissioner? I can't help but thinking if I was assigned a unit commissioner who adversely interfered with our program, it would be within bounds to tell that person to report to his DC to assign him or her to another unit that desires his lame assistance. To much head butting and power play going on here. The boys are watching.

He's not the only book-thumper, there's this other guy who just last week railed on about spelling and grammar, so we also have a self-rightous Dictionary-Thumper. Speaking of thumping-books, who thumped on the Religious Award book and said the Catholic kid couldn't wear the knot? Thump Thump Thump Thump Thump

Great learning experience. I'm copying all your posts and printing them out, we almost have a book. Thanks for everything.

His mom's Catholic and dad's Methodist, we'll call it the paternal God and Church award.

John & FOG, Thanks a bunch. John, I'll keep you and your offer in mind as we get closer and I'm sure we'll have questions. FOG, if his folks okay it, I'll just bite the bullet and let him wear his purple knot along with the rest of his buddies. You'd do the same thing.

Good Morning. We're going to organize a weekday retreat this summer for the Scouts and Sea Scouts to work on the God and Church program. The Baptist minister has vounteered to be the mentor. My question is....can our Catholic youth earn the Protestant award? My opinion is "It's All Good" but I'm asking. If the parents are alright with it, does anyone see a problem with this? Secondly, are their any experiences with this program, good or bad, you can share with me? Thanks in advance!!!

I've found that 10 miles underneath a Scout Backpack does three things. Clean up happens because they have to put their mess kit back in their pack, there wasn't a scrap of food left anyway. After a day of backpacking there is absolutely guaranteed no late or loud (just snoring) and lastly the group of friends becomes real good pals, the comeraderie of painful feet. Now if we can change some of these unfunded mandates to read "No Backpacker Left Behind" and see that on every weekend all teenagers pound a 30 mile trail, heck I just solved the juvenile justice system in America, right here on scouter.com. Think Kelty!!!

I didn't say that 80% were homos, I said 80% of those committing predatory sexual assaults on children under their care were avowed homosexuals. Those numbers scream volumes. So you go ahead there big fella, and change from within....lead the way, let your children go camping with a bunch of homosexual leaders. "what's that?", right, I didn't think you would. What do we call this? "Put your child's fate where your mouth is." This is sick, just plain disgusting that this is even an issue in this country.

MW, We had our first Monthly Quarterdeck Meeting. We met in our Blue Work Uniforms with our ship's new hats. We then conducted a Landship Ceremony, well actually walked through it. We've got to work on some of the Drill items and especially the salute. Our Bos'n got presented a Bos'ns Pipe. We swore in the Petty Officers, learned The Sea Promise, had a consultant come in working on Marlinspike Seamanship, had another guy give a History of Sea Scouting in the USA and a guy gave us a 2 person Sail Boat for free. Ship's comaraderie and morale was pretty high. 100% of the ship's company was in correct uniform. Two hours went by so fast.......

Can Scouting be established in Latino Communities
LovetoCamp replied to eagle54's topic in Open Discussion - Program
Man I like it when you two are working together!!! Let bygones be bygones and have a successful cyber 2004 sharing all that good Scouting advice. Two "attaboys" for working together. -
I'd say wait, hold on, I heard they were starting a troop with all homosexual, atheist leaders...you donate the backpack and we'll let your sons and nephews go camping with the new troop.

Posting the Legion "Boy Scout" patch was beyond my computer skills. We had made a patch with our Post number and Legion emblem which is worn on the Venturing Green uniform. When we finally get to it, we'll also have to create and have made a distinct Sea Scout patch for our ship and would also like to include the Legion on that patch also. Copy the address below and paste it into your address bar. Our Ship is Chartered by the Legion, our sister troop is chartered by the UMC(they've been warned). I've noticed several troops wearing the Legion Boy Scout patch on their right sleeves. The problem's what?(This message has been edited by Trail Pounder)
