Anyone ever think we should set a Standard Number of Merit Badges and do away with all the Fluff ones? We need to concentrate on certain Skills and their Knowledge retention. What good is a 134 Merit Badge Eagle who can't remember how to Stop Bleeding or perform CPR no matter what age they are 13 or 18 or anywhere in between.

Back on Topic. I ain't ashamed of Wearing the Boy Scout Uniform, not even when I was a Youth. Why Not show off your pride? are you ashamed of Being a Scouter? Amazes me how everyone complains about cost of a Scout Uniform, yet I bet most kids are running around in high Dollar Sneakers and busy texting on the Newest Cellphone on the Market Traveling in a Uniform easily Identifies Members of your Group? I remember once on the Way to Philmont we stopped to help fix a Flat on a Van. As We started off the Driver looked in the Mirror and realized one of our group was still standing on the roadside

Why? Did the scouter earn all those colors? The Arrow is a representation of each Scouters Personal Journey through Scouting. Each Scouter has their own journey. Not Every Scouter has the same Accomplishment in his journey to Arrow of Light.

Great Advice lets give people reasons not to join Boy Scouts and give another option where Families can spend what few chances they have to spend time together. Since Boy Scouts is about Youth unless it is Female youth then they don't matter

Hummmm wonder how all those Units sponsored by Elks, Masonic Lodges, American Legions and other Organization which have Bars handle Alcohol and Scouting Issue. I Imagine by not selling to Minors

LNT is wearing out it's Welcome. People are taking it to extremes. Just go back to teaching Outdoormanship. Teach Common Sense. You Can Build a Shelter without cutting down 500 Acres of Trees. We Walk on Established Trails......Cut into the Wilderness... We Camp in Sites built into the Wilderness...All Which essentially came about because we left a Trace...What we don't need to do is leave trash and graffiti everywhere we go

We Never/Sometime/Always we make Reservations online a week in Advance to ensure Campsite(s) for the Group.. simply Checking a website is not the same as Contacting..it makes you a speck on the visitor tally

I like something about all of Them..I like Adapting the Chuck Box to fit their needs and Equipment..Not Just take the Same Old Box and Cram stuff inside fitting Equipment to the Box..

Wildcow milking is a Ranch Roundup/ Rodeo event where you have you rope a Wild cow (a Non Dairy Breed of Cow), milk a quart of Milk and race across a finish line..Usually done in teams of three. Non Dairy Breeds tend not to stand still when ya milk them.

Well Philmont is suppose to Maintain the Working Ranch..and It is a Lease agreement so Not really sure what It equates to in the Way of Programs..and additional trails

Yeppp Sounds about right..Seems Boy Scouts is becoming less Structured and Less Uniformed..No one wants to run a Structured Program or offend and run off anyone..Last Troop I was in..Scouts wanting a BOR borrowed Shirts because they were not dressed..A Scout Uniform was not Required because it was "too hot". A Scout Shirt ain't that much Heavier than Troop T Shirt. Scouts regularly interrupted meeting..Cellphones on during meeting

The poles are pretty sturdy. I think they are 1 1/2 in Diameter powder coated steel. Not as Many as I would like but for 100.00 I think it is pretty good. Bought at Academy Sports. Easy to set up. Another Project of Mine. Make a Nice storage Box..I doubt the Cardboard box will last Long. Plus I would like to leave the legs and Ribs together to shorten Set up time. I bought Solar powered LED Rope Lights from Harbor Freight with auto on. I have heard mixed results about the ability to stand up in Rain Storms..Seems like 50/50 good /bad reviews..So Far I have not had rain to see how well it does stand up. I could add a Few 2x4 Rafters easily so I have a Rafter every few feet. I could decorate those with maybe Images or Branding Irons..May be the Scout Motto and the Law. I had to replace the Original Lights because I had been also using them on my Fence in the Yard. Seems the Plastic in the Sleeves and LED turns Yellow quickly when Exposed Directly to Sunlight. The White Canopy reflects the Light. The Harbor Freight lights are 22 Feet long. So I use 1 down each Side attached under the Canopy to the Tubing with Velcro Wraps. The new ones will only be Used with the Canopy. Hang a Sign on the End Saying "Ol' Timers Lounge"

Male and female Venturers should not wear the BSA tan shirt with green shoulder loops. I don't see where it say..Can Not...What about if they Don't wear the Green Shoulder Loops?
