Let's see, I got involved in 1st grade I guess as a Tiger. Went on to get my Arrow of Light. I joined the local troop in 5th grade and am still in now in 10th grade. Recruitment--- keep them active and have lots of fun stuff to do. Being challenging is a must as well. I'm still in because I enjoy hiking, climbing, etc. If we get rid of those things, I wont stay in the troop long. I've already been tempted to change troops b/c of the lack of outdoors stuff.

I've had it happen where I've had a long topic typed up and then my password was wrong and I lost the whole thing. When it is a smaller message, it seems to come back if I screw up with my password.

At camp, people's whose shirts had patches glued on there, etc the patches came off when they got washed! Oops:)

They have plates for Sporting teams and Universities; why not Scouting??

My mom has paid for my uniform, but any gear that I get other than at Christmas and/ or Birthday are on my own. Just an estimate, but I'd say I have/ had over 5-600 dollars of gear over the last few years. Most of that I bought myself.

This sounds like a no-go b/c I'm pretty sure ATV's are against policy. Citation issued;)

"He spent the week at camp with everyone knowing his name." And what's wrong with that? Most of the older boys in our troop have name plates on our uniforms. I think I have my name on the tag as well, but cant remember. At summer camp, our Scoutmaster took the uniforms in to be washed before the parents got there the next night. Some of them came back completely blank because the patches came off!

If we come out with a new uniform, people are really gonna think we are in the US military. First the Marines get the digital camo, now the Air Force is looking at Blue Tiger Stripes among other things, and the Army just introduced a new camo that is supposed to work in all enviroments. "If it aint broke, dont fix it"

LOL, actually no, I dont have computer merit badge yet. Or communications. Two merit badges I think really need to be updated are computers and photography. Computers are all Windows 3.1 type stuff and Photography is all film instead of digital stuff

When I'm the oldest one near the fire, I dont let anybody under the rank of 1st Class or 3rd year camper to work with the fire.

Check WalMart... I was looking there awhile back (had some time on my hands) and saw digital recorders for like 30 bucks. I dont know a lot about them, but just an idea:)

We had to wear wristbands this year. Thing was, adults were originally given red, but by the end of the week, almost everyone in camp had red ones if they didnt have their other one still.

Red, I KNOW scouting has been a good thing for me. That, and in a way, 9/11 have done much for me so far. I think it will do even much more.

Bob, I pretty well knew that what was said here wasnt going to change anything because it aint really possible. That wasnt my point. My point of starting this thread is starting something that dealt more with Scouts and not poliTICs.
