Ok, as many of you have seen, I am a webdesigner for fun. I have thought about creating a website for the troop, but have possibly run into a few problems. 1. Does the BSA have a permission slip type form to be filled out by the parents before their son's picture can be placed on a website? I know the the Girl Scouts have one that has to be filled out before the girl's picture can be put in any publication. 2. Colors- what colors would you suggest? 3. Information- what kind of information would appeal to you? From a general person perpective and as a troop member? Thanks guys and gals:)

Good thinking Eagledad. Ours is just the other way around. Our troop is delayed by lazy scouts who dont want to do it.

My blue shirt lasted all the way through Cub Scouts. Been in Boy Scouts for four years now and have gotten two new ones since;).

I sure do love these;) 1 reason for camouflage has been said: LNT-- make it look as if you were never there. Also, BDU pants are of similar price to, but better quality, "official Boy Scouts of America" pants. If they kicked everybody out who wore camo to a camporee, etc then we wouldnt have many people left in our council. Later, I'll come up with a list for you of the similarities (that I know of) between a Scout backpacker and an infantryman. There are several. Oh, and to whoever said that they had a pair of the new digital camo, you do realize that you can be fined for doing so because those are not sold retail because the Marines dont want it out there. But I do agree that having pockets on the sleeves would be nice.

Here's my opinion from the youth's look at it: On the internet, they only way I'm going to trade with somebody is if I feel like a know them fairly well and would trust them. In order for me to feel that way, they would have to have numerous posts, and be something that I could trust. Offline, just somebody that I would have to trust. If it was CSP-CSP then I would just do it as long as the trade would happen right away.

PL-none SPL-Star Scout, have served as Patrol Leader in the past, served as ASPL right before. We do it where the troop elects an ASPL who, for six months, is the assistant. Next election, he becomes the SPL.

I know KS, you're wanting leader stuff, but.. Well, I guess I AM a Youth Leader. I carry a briefcase that was made for a laptop, but my dad was just using it as a breifcase for his baseball stuff (he's a coach). I took it from him (with permission) and use it to carry my stuff that I need. Main pocket: I carry my Toshiba laptop. Other pockets in there: I carry disks, camera wire, etc I also carry catalogs or a notebook in a pocket there. There is also slots for pens and such Outer flag pocket: I carry my digital camera and a memory card, the AC/DC?? wire for the computer, and more pens Back pocket I carry a file folder with newspaper clippings. I do this because I also use this case for computer club and collect pictures that I have taken. I also carry a 3 ring binder broken into categories. 1.Gear stuff- includes some pictures, gear lists, etc 2.Permission slips and newsletters 3.Outdoor adventures 4.merit badge stuff 5.West Point information 6.Notebook I carry my handbook, Ranger handbook, as well as some other This is mainly for meetings Campouts- I take my digital camera, handbook, Ranger handbook, and notebook. I leave the laptop at home

Well, sounds like I better get busy, eh? I'll try replying with some stuff on Sunday. I dont have time now and probably wont have the time to think about it until this weekend.

Sorry I didnt respond sooner. This is the first time I've seen it;) I would say that they need to let the boys run the show. And encourage it!! Some do let them do it, but the boys shy away from it. Thats what the problem is in my troop. I'm doing what I can.

Right now, I would say that I'm pretty happy with this system;) But it is easily fooled. Thats the problem with it. Really though, we should get back to Scouts and stop worrying about what other people think:) This topic is being repeated too much.

Matua, what you said about getting promoted in the Navy, etc sounds like it would be true. I say that because there are several things you can do to be an E-2 or E-3 before you even leave for basic for the Army:) One of which is being an Eagle Scout.

As long as it is Scout related (preferrably camping;)) it doesnt matter to me. Thanks Dave, I hope your new job works out well.
