This the season for post summer camp partials
Eagle732 replied to Basementdweller's topic in Advancement Resources
Typical summer camp MB program, blow through the subject in two days so the counselors can have free time. BD has every right to not sign if he doesn't think the scout is up to snuff. "A subsequent counselor may choose not to accept partial work, but this should be rare.", The Advancement Guide.(This message has been edited by Eagle732) -
Shooting acorns or throwing rocks, both the same, dangerous and unacceptable behavior. Have a talk with the Cub. We have a sling shot range at our Cub Scout Day Camp each year, it's very popular. They use cans hung from a frame for targets. (Trails End popcorn cans, which I find appropriate;) ) I have seen sling shot ranges set up a Pack events, they are not prohibited under the G2SS. If you do a fall camping trip that would be a great time to set up a range, plenty of acorn ammo available. Just run the range with the same safety standards you would at an archery range. No voter fraud in Maryland. The dead always vote democrat here. http://www.abc2news.com/dpp/news/state/dead-voters-still-on-election-rolls-group-alledges http://chestertownspy.com/2012/10/01/some-dead-people-in-md-take-voting-seriously-study-finds/

Remember BSA doesn't discriminate (in an illegal manner)
-
What purpose would a survey that excludes LDS, a major element of BSA serve? I'd vote "Don't Care"(This message has been edited by Eagle732)

Hello Outdoors, Most organizations discriminate. I belong to several that do. Sons of the American Revolution, have to prove an ancestor that fought in the Revolutionary War. International Association of Firefighters, have to be a professional firefighter. Heck, even the mens bowling and baseball leagues discriminate. BSA doesn't discriminate in an illegal manner. It's obvious that you're not capable of having a civil discussion and have no understanding of the Scout Law. A moron? Thank you (This message has been edited by Eagle732)

Some councils don't require paperwork for rank patches. Or just buy 'em on eBay.
-
Outdoors, BSA doesn't discriminate, they have membership requirements. My son can't join Girl Scouts and I can't play little league baseball. Feel free to join B-PSA, there's 7 groups (troops) in the entire country but they might be a good alternative for those who don't agree with BSA's policies.

I think in general people are pretty tolerant of others views and opinions until they try to force them on people. Case in point the Chick-Fil-A issue. People were lined up around the block to get in, not to display intolerance for gays but support for someones right to their opinion. We'll see how long it takes for the negative comments to start.

This is the reason why store owners stop allowing scouts to sell in front of their establishments. The owner doesn't want some Scout leaders arguing in front of his store causing a scene! It's easier for the owner to just not allow sales at all. Mr. SM has a major problem, he should have maybe said something to you privately but to yell at you and then go in to the store and complain to the manager was way out of line. My troop was doing sales in front of a store on our scheduled date and time a several years ago when a Cub Pack pulled up ready to sell. A discussion between the two parties began and apparently a store employee had given the Cubs a verbal OK for the same time slot we had been promised by the owner. My leader called me and asked what to do. I told them to pack up and call it a day, let the Cubs take it, and be pleasant about it. Later when the leader asked why I would just give up our appointed time slot I said that we recruit from that pack and we need to maintain a good relation with them. A few hours of popcorn sales was not worth pissing off the CM and WDL. Maybe your yelling SM might want to consider that. What's the big deal about selling a day early anyway?

Going it Alone? Or Active with Distrct/Council?

Basement, quit going to Round Table! My DE wouldn't dare call me up in front of Round Table and question why my unit doesn't sell popcorn, go to the council camp or contribute to FOS. But I wish he would (This message has been edited by Eagle732) -
So what do you think of this????
Eagle732 replied to Basementdweller's topic in Advancement Resources
Outdoors, It takes about 300 posts before you get banged around enough to get a real big chip on your shoulder You need some think skin to hang out here, don't take stuff personally. -
I'd love to sit on that EBOR. If the latest SM is tough like you say the boy won't last long there either. He'll be Eagle though, I guarantee it.

"People who don't want awards secretly covet awards." Or maybe they are selfless individuals that just want their scouts to do well. My guess is that most of the active Scouters here dedicate hundreds of hours of their time to Scouting and they don't do it for recognition. At least that's my experience Doc, your experiences might be different.(This message has been edited by Eagle732)

No voter fraud here in Maryland where the motto is "Vote early and vote often". ""At a time when many declare we should not be concerned about 'voter fraud', we have a poster child in disqualified 1st Congressional District Candidate Wendy Rosen" stated Delegate Mike McDermott. "These allegations must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law as a vigilent reminder that our elections are precious and must be protected". Delegate McDermott has formerly requested the investigation to look into the allegations that Ms. Rosen voted in the states of Maryland and Florida during the same elections" Bet she had ID!

So what do you think of this????
Eagle732 replied to Basementdweller's topic in Advancement Resources
"I find it truly amazing that every time I make a post on these forums that implies that a Boy Scouts should get outdoors to camp, hike, canoe, fish and just simply be outdoors people here immediately jump all over me." I'm all for getting boys outdoors! No jumping here. I'd be interested in hearing what a typical camping schedule is for some of our most active posters here. I'll bet many of them never leave the house! -
So there is a couple of scout parents.............
Eagle732 replied to Basementdweller's topic in Open Discussion - Program
This is why I leave the decisions of financial assistance to the CC. Ever had a scout tell you he can't go on a camping trip because of a family commitment only to see on FB that he was doing paintball instead? -
moose, Do you really think that the more words you type the stronger your argument is?
-
Hey moose, how far back do you want to go with that statement about Republicans suppressing black voters? Maybe 1863 and the time of Lincoln?
-
I never felt I could be a SM and hold a district position at the same time and do justice to both.
-
"To me the only reason a Troop Has their Own Merit Badge Councilor is to just get signed off and fly by." jpstodwftexas, are you saying that the only reason troops have their own MBCs is to make it easy on their scouts?
-
"Romney has said a lot of things he says he didn't mean or believe." Do tell! Thank goodness the other is always truthful!
-
SP, I am aware what the SB award is and that it is awarded by Council, I misspoke when I said "District award" I do not serve in a Council capacity therefor I do not expect to ever receive such an award. I don't really care about awards. I'd rather take a group of boys backpacking. My point was that I would support an organization who directly supports scouts.(This message has been edited by Eagle732)

Twocub, you must be in the same district as me. We go it alone. Too bad. -
Romney has said he would prevent discrimination against individuals with pre-existing conditions.
