  10. This is a re-re post from a earlier clone of this thread IMHO a new uniform would be based on the current BDU design used by the military and police, NO not camouflage! Flat green pants and a buff/tan shirt, loose fitting so they are comfortable for activities when warm or thermals can be worn underneath for cooler climates. Nylon or synthetic would be a bonus. Shirt; Make the shirt so it can be worn tucked in or out and still look good, use the cuff design on the BDU so that the sleeve can be worn rolled up. Deep six the epaulets the buttons are not comfortable under shoulder str
  11. -Rant mode on What I would like to know is why this thread is here, what does it have to do with helping to run troop, pack, crew, etc. Can it improve your popcorn sales, make for high adventure campouts, cause the uniform police to point out its blasphemy against the uniform method? I dont see any references to anything scouting here please folks theres enough politics within scouting with the need to drag any more in. -Rant mode off AK-Eagle
  12. We have a long weekend winter camp "Frostbite Challenge" Normally it takes part the third weekend of March The camp takes place near Carcross British Columbia and has scouts from Canada and Alaska taking part. I've seen temp ranges from +40f to -30f in the nearly ten years I've been going. Is that what you have in mind or is it a bit out of the way? AK-Eagle aka Philllip Martin Scoutmaster Troop21 Juneau Alaska
  13. When a scout here is advancing from Star to Life I encourage but do not require them to seek sources outside of scouting for three of their six hours. I do this to get them to look outside the box and hopefully prepare them for a future eagle project. AK-Eagle aka Phillip Martin Scoutmaster Troop 21 Juneau Alaska
  14. Sue, Congrats and thank you for taking on the irksome tasks and boundless joys of Scoutmaster. Dont let the jerks get you down the majority out there are glad to see you around. If your hiking trail finds its way here to Juneau you'll find a campfire with a boiling kettle waiting. AK-Eagle aka Phillip Martin Scoutmaster Troop 21 Juneau Alaska
  15. Sounds like a great idea. As to the ice cream vs. potato chips... With ice cream the sooner the "child" is found the better condition they'll be in. Talk about some incentive to work quickly and throughly. Still a bag of chips would work for the chow hounds here. AK-Eagle
  16. Done, and I have passed the word around here as well Thanks AK-Eagle aka Phillip Martin Scoutmaster Troop 21 Juneau Alaska
  17. Make them yourself or ask around to see if there is a volunteer that would like to do that. Get some scouts involved in the project give them some "ownership" in that trail. Phillip Martin Scoutmaster Troop 21 Juneau Alaska
