  1. Sorry, how rude of me. Welcome Papayaman! 6. Is the Vive worth the extra cost over the Rift or do you think it is better to wait for the 2nd Gen?
  2. How are EBOHs set up in general or how are they supposed to be set up? In my old district there was a district level volunteer staff that conducted them 3 weeks nights a month and unit committees were not part of it. I was told in my new district it is conducted by the Unit Committee and includes a district representative.
  3. Flags. So often the only time you see the patrol method is when they are lined up for flags. Check that box off. Looks good for the parents when they drop off and pick up.
  4. But if BSA IT ever gets their grubby hands on it......
  5. 1. Which is the better processor to buy right now. The 5820k or 6700K? Assuming you can get Microcenter pricing, and 50% usage for gaming. 2. Buy 980ti now or wait for the 1080? 3. 144Hz or 1440 assuming you can't afford both. 4. Gsync or Freesync? 5. Water cooling or Big Air?
  6. @hear4212 Those ISAs at least used to be a hot button issue around here. Not sure we're the "discussion" was left as I took a hiatus but many were vehemently opposed to them, at least as far as fundraising proceedes. If I were running a troop again I would at minimum require and app filled out and signed by the scouts and parents before handing over a book etc.
  7. It's been a couple of years but we used Scouttrack.com. About $50 a year. The interface was not great but it had everything you needed. The parents NEVER entered requirements but some DLs found it very helpful. I would take a look at the current Scoutbook as others have recommended as well. When you get to Troop level take a good look at Troopwebhost.com. It is great and more importantly under active development with a very responsive and helpful developer.
  8. For $10 you can become an Ordained Minister in the The Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster and then write your own letter.
  9. @@Stosh. You could whittle some "L" slides for the boys who don't get the rank award. A few years ago a old Scouter like you gave my oldest a tomahawk slide at a Camporee and he treasures that more than any other bling he has received.
  10. A cape and some flash powder should get the point accross.
  11. I have been to RT in 3 Councils now. 2 of the 3 award one attendee some sort of plushie that needs to be brought back next month. What's up with this? So you make sure that 1 person comes back next month.
  12. My old district started really ratcheting the hype up and it helped a bit but I have had enough of bazooka bazooka bubble gum. The Cubs would have breakout sessions 5-6 with different topics and a moderator. The moderator did not have an agenda or plan but was just there to get things started. It was great just talking to 7-8 other scouters about issues and ways to solve them. No beading ceremonies with long speeches about the Boar War and Zulus!
  13. As I am setting in at a Section Conclave I will pray.
  14. Hey that is my kid! His nickname is Taz. He has a Taz bed light, sheet set, a poster and a few plushies. The difference is if you don't give him meds before bed he won't go to sleep. You is slow to wind up in the morning but if he doesn't get the morning meds I would rather face down a F-5 tornado.
  15. @@Stosh, that Forester wouldn't happen to be your wife by chance?
  16. I d I doubt a Tiger Cub would have any problems with it. I actually think the problem is the way Chrome automatically minimizes the the tab with the certificate. I hit that printer icon five times before I realized I had 5 minimized tabs with certificates.
  17. For Cubs entering Web1 we had 2 night resident camp and Web2 4 night. Seemed to work well, of course a DL or Parent had to attend and 2 deep was covered by combining Dens. I didn't have a homesickness problem but my little devil had a electronics withdrawal problem. Gone are the days when you could go off the grid for a few days, these days employers expect and demand you to be available for communication 24/7, no excuses. Maybe we should have a law, but then that would be "government regulation" and we can't have any of that can we? It never ceases the amaze me how we built this
  18. My old council started holding several themed "Twilight" camps from 5:30-8:00 each evening. Shooting sports, STEM, fishing etc. I attended the STEM camp a couple of years ago and it seemed to have good attendance. My crossover is not that thrilled with BS camping right now. He prefers Cub Camping where the adults did everthing. A topic for another post.
  19. Without digging up 3 year old threads I thought it was the consensus of this community that the program year ended on May 31st and that was it. If you were not done, you were not done and time to move on to the next rank. In this particular case it is a failure of adult leadership not the boys. The boys were not given the opportunity and did what was asked of them. That may not make a difference in many people's minds but to some it does. In this specific case my preference would be to extend the deadline and let the boys finish it correctly, but doesn't that have the same eff
  20. 20 or so years ago I flew into Pheonix on a Saturday for a week of training, around April. Had nothing to do on Sunday so what the hell lets go see that big hole in the ground. Jumped in my rental car in shorts and t shirt and off I went. Somewhere north of Flagstaff I stopped at a rest area and noticed some remnants of snow on the ground. What the hell, I was just in the desert admiring the cacti. Once I got to the South Rim I was pretty chilly and the. It dawned on me that the GC is NOT a hole in the ground.
  21. Ever watch TV? These days you can have a dozen different types of catheters delivered right to your door apparently, even free samples I think.. No need to ever leave the comfort of your bag.
