  1. "I'll give just about anything a shot if I can be convinced that I won't die". There are worse things than being called home GW.
  2. I can't be certain, but Mr. C's CSP looks like a Jamboree or other special CSP.
  3. "We have lost at least 15 boys in 9 months....." Wow, that's an entire troop of 2 patrols! If you do end up forming a new unit jwall, make sure you call those 15 boys and let them know you'd love to have them!
  4. I know, I know John. And we have the tan one today. Unless the Happy Clowns and the Ferrets Patrols make flags and have patrol yells, I can't tell whos who. Man from La Mancha? My earliest TV memories are of Johnny Gage and Roy DeSoto. And of course, the lovely Julie London.
  5. I am prepared to take the wrath, so here goes: I don't like Patrol names that are made up and without a patrol patch. But thats just me. An old Panther PL.
  6. With this thread generating so much interest, I made a special trip to the post office to retrieve the issue from my box. I like the hats.
  7. I have searched the forums but have come up empty handed on the subject. How do you clean your unit flags? In particular, there appears to be rust on the white part of the flag, as well as years of dirt and such. Any suggestions?
  8. GW, I must agree with you about todays parents at Scout meetings. In my day, parents were only seen at dropoff and pickup as you mentioned, and at COH's. I don't necessarily think all the parents are there to watch the SM, but heres my take. Our troop serves about six towns, so travelling 45 minutes to drop Junior off for 90 minutes and have to repeat is wasting time and gas. Plus the other parents that stay are the ones whose boys have some sort of disability. They do however, stay on the sidelines at Scout functions.
  9. My only rule is No Guessing. Either you know it or not.
  10. Mac'n'Cheese is the ultimate trail food. Buy the kind with the bag'o squeezy cheese foil packet inside. Fat/Carbs/Trail--hey, it all works in harmony.
  11. Speaking of ads, theres the 'Meet Sexy Arab Women' ad, running at the top. Now, how does one know if she is sexy wearing that executioners mask and KKK robe?
  12. If I can make a difference in just one boys life, than it is all worth it.
  13. Not to change the subject, but what about the Legend on the back of the sash? Those were quite common when I was first elected.
  14. scoutldr says "I will probably vote for Ron Paul". I had no idea that cross-dressing entertainer was running for President!
  15. The pollution comes from the run-off of the De-icer and jet fuel. At LAFB, De-icer was necessary from Sep until May! The same water pollution was found near the old Dow AFB, in Bangor.
  16. Well, I love the fact our Uncle saw the need to build a new $25 million dollar hospital there-even though it was already approved to be closed.
  17. Regarding your previous post about Cyr Buses Moxie, they have a large fleet of school buses of all sizes and I think some of those are the vans, too.
  18. So the republicans claim unemployment is down, huh? Heres my twisted theory. We are in a war that is being fought by hundreds of thousands of National Guard Soldiers, who, usually have a full-time, regular job.(And a BIG thanks to all you Guardsmen/women!) So someone needs to fill their job while they're off serving. (Temporarily, of course). So when the Dems win the White house, bring back our Soldiers, ending temporary employment for the masses will raise the unemployment rates, and the Republicans can say "We told you so!" At least, that's what runs through this registered Independants head
  19. OGE, I think the Bull was from another one of Johns songs- maybe it has to due with his Mid-western location, but John certainly shows some affection for the bovine-types. Unless of course, by No Bull, you really meant No $*%#! And naturally, like every other thread here, this one has gone all over the barnyard!(This message has been edited by local1400)
  20. Great song John! Is it sung after beans night at HRB?
  21. And all this time I thought wanton was just good soup!
  22. I think a service project to redeem himself may be in order (scrubbing spraypaint off a school wall?) and a trip to the fire station (to work on Fire Safety MB, of course) is due.
  23. I like PMs. They are good for making friends and for sharing info/tales that you may not want publicized.
  24. "HOW TO DEAL WITH A FLATULENT SCOUT". Personally, I prefer to fight fire with fire. (I thought everyone needed a chuckle this morning.)
  25. It is just sad that these boys will never earn camping merit badge (Eagle?!?!) or even be elected to OA-unless they get priorities straight!
