  1. Our SM in our troop is the same way.
  2. I was pushed by everyone Parents, SMs,ASMs, Committee and my WB leader who i servered as Den Chief for, for 7 years also. So yes i think it is needed. When i got board of review couple weeks ago my troop has had 38 eagle scouts (including me after i get verafication from national) that were all psuhed. We had one eagle scout couple years back 16 years old only a tenderfoot and he made it. He was pushed but we got him too it.
  3. As a Den Chief, I would always inform the parents at the Blue and Golds about our uniforms, (which is only the scout shirt), books and etc. Plus most of the time when the boy comes up to the meeting the parent follwos to make sure their son is ok. Parents don't mind being told these things they welcome it. I would try to do it through the parents first.
  4. SPLT15 you did the right thing no doubt. Reminds me of a time i had an issue with the Troop Commitee Treasure. In short she was delt with by another TC.
  5. As far as i know you can only get your BOR after your 18. In my Council its 3 months after the birthday and if its not completed by then a written reason must be submitted by an adult asto why it wasn't conducted before the 3 months were up for an extension.
  6. I know my mom has a uhhh hat holder I guess you could say for laundry stuff. Think she got it at a discount store a couple years ago but they do work cause my dad is a carpenter and his hats get dirty all the time so you might want to try looking for one of those.
  7. hey NJ my troop makes their own custom made hats. Ours are a black baseball hat with our troop patch sewed onto them. In my troop we don't call them gold leaves but we call them scrambled eggs lol. As for the Brim it goes like this. Plain (no leaf)=Youth Silver=ASM/MC Red=Eagle Scouts Gold=Scout Master I was wondering if anyone else did this and what other colors you use?

Yep all the boys in my troop don't sew their uniforms their mother do. I use to sew all of my stuff but I could never sew my gettysburg segment patch together. (too tricky for me so I made my dad do it the last time lol) I'm proud to say besides that I've sewed all of my patches on with no problems.
  9. I agree with Neil about the positions. When i first started out in the troop i was a Chaplian Aide for a year then i became a patrol leader then a SPL. So its always good to work from the bottum to the top.
  10. Well since he likes the outdoors and is a "hans on" type of kid i think he would like quartermaster. I will say this eventually he'll be a PL. We've had kids with AAD and at first you know they didn't get it because of reasons but then the others saw what and how he did and of course he was elected for a PL.
  11. Well if your son is gonig to take pictures and stuff a lot i'd suggest asking PLC and Troop Commmtiee for Film for the camera so you can purchase it or get throw aways. That can get expensive really fast. Also any newspaper clippings just get a bulltin board and post those on them.
  12. Would it be worth to get an expensive book like that when in a couple of years most likly they will be coming out with a new edition?
  13. Geez my first class board of review was like 15-20 mintues thats how all of them hould be except for eagle and maybe life. An hour for a first class board of review is way too long.
  14. I wish i could remember where my AOL (yes i also thought uit was ment by the online thing) but on my BSa uniforum since 96 it ahs always been right under the left pocket. Thats where we were told but i don't remeber for my cub scouts uniform. I do like the idea for the Webelos for wearing the tan uniform. But i thought the patch and hat were ugly. My opinion is that they shoulkd've left it the way it was and still let them wear their tan uniforms if they wanted too. As a Den Chief i always told the parents to buy them big. Heck i'm still on my 2nd Tan uniform shirt. (although i do have a
  15. Well our troop has done it both ways actually. We have done in the past, PL selecting the patrol members. The SM in our troop puts boys in whatever patrol because of the fact that sometimes they don't pick right and the kids that get into fights are in the same patrol. So as long as everyone gets along its ok for the PL to select their members. But I would have the SM verify each patrol to make certain there won't be any problems.
  16. Well sad to say our troop didn't do much this summer even at scout camp with HA programs. This year at Camp Karonndinha (sp), for short Camp K they tryed to do a new Survival Trek for the older boys because of the fact that older boys weren't going to scout camp anymore and they wanted to try to bring them back. The trek was a 3 day/2 night hike for 20 miles all over the mountains behind Camp K. It was a really good idea and everything but no one wnated to come. The week I was up there we had the 1 volunteer leader and 1 kid (at the time me) but another kid droped and NO ONE from any othe
  17. Well I agree with what everyone said. SPL with the advise of the PLC and SM runs the meeting and schduels events. Our troop is gonig threw another drastic change because I left as SPL in the begining of August and now the other SPL is leaving end of november so leadersip is going to change drastically in our troop. It was hard to organize the meetings cause after boy scout camp in early july, no one comes and they don't come back till school starts.
  18. Well I don't think they would be considered "offical" anymore because of what was donbe to them. Hemming is ok becuase of the fact they can be brought back to original form but after adding zippers i'd like to see how they ould be brought back to original form. However I would like to see that idea put into place with the BSA but I doubt it will happen soon.
  19. Thanx guys. I'm not goning "rub" it in the ADC face because she was told by another lady because when the ADC went to get the knots for her 2 kids who turned 18 that other lady told her how there still suppose to still where the Youth Emblems. Speaking of youth stuff another question. REligiousawards as a youth i know you can wear your youth Knoit but can you wear your medals still when you turn 18 to like Blue and Gold, Dinners, COHs, and etc?
  20. Right now i'm 18 years old and i was wondering if I'm a allowed to wear the Arrow of Light Knot and when i get my board of review for eagle scout, after all that gets taken care of my eagle scout knot. Reason why i'm asking this is because i thought that only Venture/explorer crews were the only ones to weare there youth emblems till they were 21 and i thought all boy scouts were suppsoe to chnage over when they hit 18. I remember seeing something similar on a web site but i can't find it . A Asistent District Commis. told me thisand i know i remember seeing it somewhere. She said that 18-21 a
