  1. I would say no for this reason. TH\he AOL is the highest rank you can achieve in cub scouting and the BSA allows you to wear that on your BS uniform. Now in the past before the oval do you think that a kid would wear there webelos diamond badge? The answer is no so thats the way I would take as in no. BSA is stillusing the diamond badge becuase they still show it in the catalog. Thats my reasoning.
  2. Well my dad and myself both agreed a long time ago that he wouldn't sign ranks or merit badges off for me. I really didn't have trobule getting stuff done. I totally avodied those "favoritism" problems.
  3. What KA6BSA said is right. Does this boy Have his merit badge cards or his rank cards? (not the blue ones the other ones) If he doesn't any of those there is no way that eagle appication is going to get through becuase on the applcation they ask for the date of your 1st calss BOR, and life, and the dates on 21 merit badges. He'll have to start everything all over.
  4. If the boy is 16 or 17 years old all you can do is really encourage him. At that age you can't make the decision for him he has to make it. If he's younger talk to the parents and see what you can do.
  5. I agree with Ron. Sounds like a kid in our troop. (No he didn't make it becuase he didn't have the will to finish a couple merit badges up)
  6. Our troop usually goes to a worship service then we all get together for a breakfest somewhere near by. (We don't require the kisd to go to church so we don't offend anybody its voluntarily) We do incourage them to go to the breakfest with their families cuase the troop pays for it.
  7. Google Toolbar has a block out feature that works very well and i'm happy with it. http://toolbar.google.com/ They have an FAQ for any of your problems.(This message has been edited by JimmyD)
  8. If you sent a list out with a check list nothing else you can do. My dads gotten to the point where he can't stand the cold either.
  9. BW out of curiosity i was wondering how your thinknig was? (conservative, reactionary, liberal, radical, moderate)
  10. With flyer hand outs i would have the district make a list of what to bring for cold weather camping that might make the troops more prepared.
  11. "How do scouting myths get started? Do you agree that the methods do not need to be followed? Do you think some methods should be followed and some should not?" You seriously need to lossen up. Its a JOKE. It was ment to send a message to people who are only happy when they have something to complain about. I've met plenty of people who like doing that through out my life. I've been an ASM now for like 6 months now. I don't know everything.I didn't even make any comments on the methods nor am i going too because this topic isn't suppose to be about the scouting methods. So let
  12. You guys take this post really too seriously. I hope you guys don't watch Comedy Central.
  13. This is sad. I don't know about Florida but pennsylvania has fluroscent orange requirments when hunting deer, and when you go out for turkey you hae to wear orange till you ge tsittuated then tkae it off. Just as a reminder for that don't wear colors that are asocated with the animal like black for hogs and red for the beard of a turkey. We always make sure when we go out with the troop on satursdays during a huting season everyone where's orange as a safty precaustion just incase.
  14. What we do is that the Den Leaders will keep a couple of the kids projects (pine wood derby cars). Then display them on the tables. So indirectly the kids are making the decorations.
  15. LOL very funny and true.
  16. I don't know what you are trying to imply but when you only give the award say 5 to people who donate $$ and 1 who is a "volunteer" who works with kids that does sound strange. I'm sure if everyone had the money they would donate to events and other things but they don't. But if these people only donate to the council and thats it and expect a reward well that just isn't right for that award. Isn't there the James West award for stuff like that? "Yes he is supporting the council. But is he doing this for the council or the unit?" He is supporting boy scoutting in general just like th
  17. "Volunteers who think "the Professionals work for us." Council Executive Boards who let the SE dictate to them" Read the thread in the council relations forums about my view and what examples i sihgted within my council and you'll know what my opinion is.
  18. Bill when i get out of college and stuff thats how i would like to be...just to be honest with no policits thats a problem with my troop and pack.
  19. "I see that you are young, so I'm going to go fairly easy on you. I wonder with your age and experience exactly how well you know your Scout Executive. Also, what are "Council Members"? Here is why I gripe. Scout Executives, for the most part, are very knowlegeable and extremely dedicated to the Scouting movement. They have given their lives to this movement, in fact. Often they are faced with difficult decisions or have to defend unpopular decisions made by Boards of Directors. Often they are able to pull from knowledge and experience that a unit level Scouter might not have in order to

  21. My dad would like all of your corny jokes.
  22. I'd follow the Atkins Diet. Bascally eat low carb foods for the most time but when hiking and stuf flike others said make sure you got something surgary. It would help if you did see a diabetic specialist so you are aware of what and what not to eat.
  23. This doesn't have to do with the eagle award but it does have to do with medals. I was wondering if I as an adult can weary my youth religious award knot on speical occassions. You can wear your knot all the time but i wasn't sure on the medal.
