At our summer camp we have gotten rid of the fire buckets by the tents years ago becuase of west nile. Instead of that they have the boys fill up a big barrel of water near the latrine of our site and cover it with plastic.

All BSA rifle ranges that I know of, are operated by a NRA certified training instructor. I believe you have to have these certifications to be a MBC. At least in this coucil. Life NRA member here, Alan I too am also a member of the NRA and my dad is a life member. MY dad is NRA ceritfied and was a merit badge counselor. Interesting note is that last year at summer camp when he still was they lacked the staff up thre to run both the riufle and shotgun ranges at the sametime. I think the BSA did approve of it. Of course if they ddin't i'm sure the legion wouldn't go aroundmaking their own boy scout patch just for people to get into trouble in.

THanx trail for the pic. Thats the patch our troop wears. Nothing wrong wearing it because the BSA and American Legion has a good relationship. I know just last year the Legion with the BSA have requirments for a knot. Yes American Legion is a great sponsor for our troop. TOmmrow we are helping out the Ladies Auxiliary moving Ceramics to one to another. Also has a troop we are allowed to wear Legion patches below the US Flag. (Yes we can do this) I've seen other troops also doing this.

Always have checks payable to the troop. If your being charged for deposits either get that removed or switch to a different bank. If she did quit get the signatures changed. Hopefully you have someone else's name for the signatures (On our troop account the BS treasurte and the CS treasures signatures are valid) Don't ever just have 1.

Congrats! Wow that must be low whats your coomunity pop? I know our local legion,library, and K of C each of them hold 1 a year and usually get 60-70 donors.

I would let an ASM have a scoutmaster conference with the boy first before you would step in. He might take it more seriously from him then the parent. If that doesn't work you need to step in and do something.

Our SM knows when he is getting an award becuase huis wife only comes when he does get one.

Our Council went from 4 ot 3 districts and this past year we lost over 600 kids.

Sounds like my council also. Last year we had very bad food (worse i can remember) Food company deleivered meat left it ourside during 2nd week.....the cook wasn't there and all that meat spoiled. He did a very bad job with the food and the next week was fired. Our council raised camping prices $20 we werwen't ahppy about it. Now thered oing other stuff, axed someone for no reason. Right now Our troop and pack and a LOT of others are tired of our scout excutive and we will be sending some sort of petition of sometime with many signautres down to national asking for his removal. I don't have a problem witha woman but last year we had a program director who was a woman and it didn't go too well. The vast majority of the staff didn't like her. (They didn't come out and say it but looks tell a lot) Rifle Director was gonig to quit becuase of her. Did a whole bunch of stuff that was not disscussed at any pre camp meetings with the troops/SPLs and was not mentioned in Our Camp program packet that we get each year. Also did too muh Cub Scout stuff with Boy Scouts. So we had a bad experience. As long as she would likeable and stuff I don't have a problem.
