  1. We are planning a winter trip with the Crew. I am going to try the foam pad method.
  2. This could mean he attends NA meetings for all we know. Distributing to minors over 10 years ago, for all we he could have been an 18yo slinging weed to his buddies. I am not defending him, and will readily admit I am jaded when it comes to drug users, dealers, etc... But the OP doesn't have enough information.
  3. Alan, where did you find find that? Troop 160? I have known a few of your members, and met some of the Venturers on staff at Hart over the summer.
  4. Yes and no, some are how he thinks it should be done. He quotes the rules when convenient.
  5. I am the CM, and now that it was brought to my attention I want to nip it in the bud. I spoke with the Scout and his dad, time will tell. I truly think nobody addressed it because they were intimidated by the CC's need to control all things. The ACM and myself are on the same page.
  6. The CC did not have much of a Scouting experience as a kid and is trying to relive it. The son thinks he can do no wrong because his dad is CC. To a degree the dad has allowed the behavior. He is now aware others have noticed and promised that will change. Only time will tell.
  7. No, I wouldn't. His kids add to the aggravation. Every email contains passive aggressive "suggestions" on how things should be done. The other leaders are growing increasingly tired of it, and have been pulling back because of it. I have a strong threshold of BS and can grin and bear it, and speak my mind without getting personal and emotional.
  8. This is where is gets complicated. Outside of being rougher than others playing rough during Pack games, no adult has seen him do anything punishable. In those cases he is removed from the games. After the most recent incident. I did speak to him and his father and told him if it continues we will need to escalate it. I believe the parents will do what they can to stop the behavior issues because at least one of the parents have aspirations of being involved on the District level. I am on good terms with SMs of the area troops and they all hope the boy and his dad do not chose their respectiv
  9. Is it wrong to count the days until the CC moves on with his son? He can't answer a simple question in an email without paragraphs, usually quoting or regurgitating something from National or Council. His wife is just as bad, their Cub is hated by most of the kids in the Pack. The older ones don't like him, and he bullies the younger ones. More than parent has told their children to avoid him, and he pushes them to punch him in the nose. When caught doing wrong it is always someone else's fault. I won't even get into the issues with their older child who shows up at Pack meeting and acts com
  10. Wear them on opposing sides like bandoliers.
  11. My Buck 110 folder. It was a 16th birthday present and I have used it ever since. Sure, there are more lightweight knives, but my Buck seems to find it's way onto my belt every time I head to the woods. I have only used it once, but a close second would be my hammock.
  12. This was in May and the boys were talking about it at our Sept Pack Meeting. I was proud of the boys, especially my Tigers. We made gorp at the previous Den meeting and they shared it after the pack provided Rice Kripsie treats were consumed at was the original half-way mark. Some of the Webelos took the day packs of the younger kids, without being prompted by adults. After lunch the parents licked their wounds while the kids climbed the rock wall.
  13. I can comment on a Cub level. In May we planned a short(5mi) hike on the AT and loop back into camp. The blaze was poorly marked and we missed it. We ended up hiking 13 miles, one Cub out of 19 complained, the parents on the other and were pitching a fit.
  14. We were overwhelmed with the turnout of our new Scout registration night. The place was packed and chaotic, so much that I thought we scared away some of the potential newcomers. I had the kids play balloon stomp, and it was a hit. What I thought would have scared some away is what set the hook. My first official function as CM wasn't a flop.
  15. The pack just about doubled in size this year. We were sitting at 22 Scouts including (12) W2, no Bears, (5) Wolves, and (6) W1. Since our registration night we now have (11)Tigers, (8) Wolves (3) Bears, (8) W1, and (11) W2. All this and still more prospects to submit paperwork.
  16. The tarp option is in the lead as I have no shortage of them around the house.
  17. I took the plunge over the weekend and bought a Grand Truck skeeter beater. I took a short nap in it Saturday afternoon. The maiden voyage is in a few weeks. I'm trying to decide on a dedicated fly or just a tarp.
  18. Once you iron out that mess have his parents teach the finer points of selling popcorn door to door
  19. I bought trees from local troops for close to 20 years. That is until the prices were double what the other lots were charging. Now cut down our own for $2/foot.
  20. Maybe it has something to do with being the Boy Scouts of America.
  21. I think it is a great idea. How how to your wife for thinking outside the box.
