    • Did any of you do woodbadge while your primary position was "Unit Scouter Reserve" or "Merit Badge Counselor"?  Or are you familiar with people who have done so?  What sort of ticket items? I attended the woodbadge course last year. But prior to completing all my ticket items I resigned from my troop position. (I'd rather not go into details, but unresolved disputes between troop adults - disputes exacerbated by covid - were a major factor.) I am glad I attended woodbadge, whether or not I complete my ticket. I am wondering whether to attempt completing my ticket, despite the change in position.  Woodbadge counselor is willing to consider changes to ticket.  Some of my orginal ticket ideas were really only relevant to my old position or not doable currently due to covid. My kid is still actively involved in the troop.
    • Agree that loosing sea base would suck.  I’m hoping to take my venture crew there in 23   Already have other plans for 21 and 22. if you want to create a non sea basescuba adventure and still visit the keys, you could talk to rainbow reef in key largo and see about a package.  Blackbeard cruises offers a live aboard sailing and scuba adventure that offers discounts to scouts.
    • Or maybe this is like buying a car and they're just dickering on a price. Remember, win all you can! Anyway, I wouldn't take it personally. It just is.
    • I believe in the ideals.  It's the people who work so hard at tearing them down, who seem to be gaining in influence, that erode faith... I, for one, am standing in the gap as best I can.
    • Too many Americans have been staking out absolute positions and daring others to cross a rhetorical line.  Sometimes the rhetoric on even this site has trended in a similar direction, with folks just not showing respect for reasoned but differing views.  The divisions that evolve reduce our confidence in our nation's Constitution, and similarly in the fundamental approaches in Scouting.  The WWII combat veterans who were the Scoutmasters and Skippers of my youth were not that way.  They fought hard in a war to ease my way through life, and Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts helped make me what I hope is a respectful and open-minded individual.  They knew they did not have a monopoly on all of the good ideas, and inspired me to make whatever meager contributions to society I have attempted.  I like Scouting, I believe in the Boy Scouts of America, and I believe in the Constitution and the future of our country.  I hope everyone on this site does also.
