There are plenty of LDS troops with less than 5. So we know it is not a hard rule.

Try to find a solution that does not hurt the scout. Drugs/minors/continued association is a big red flag for me and I suspect most people as well. You must bring the CO and DE or SE in on this. Just remember this boy needs scouts and positive role models. Have you talked with this parent about your concerns ?

Wow. Derby is the one event we don't have problems with volunteers at all. Do you have your people trained ? That can help sometimes. My CC has been sending out rah rah emails thanking all the chairs/volunteers for the events in the weeks prior to the event. Kind of puts the spotlight on them.

My boy has a food touching issue so he has a plastic divided plate, plastic utensils and a mug. Keep it all in a $1 lingerie washing bag from Wally World, great for air drying. I hear a frisbee makes a good bowl/plate. I have recently been seeing a lot of scouts with those lightweight tripod camp stools.

My boys know how steam starts coming out my ears when they start the door games. It happened about a year ago. Result is they lost their bedroom doors for week.

Type of felony and how long ago are important. Obviously a violent felon would make people uncomfortable. A conversation with the CO about the situation would be in order and possibly your council. I would not have much of an issue at troop meetings as there are plenty of adults around, unless he is on the committee he really doesn't have a right to be there.

I can't find a hard rule but I believe it is five for a regular unit, less for LDS. Maybe a council level rule.

My current pack only has one Pack campout a year and I am trying to up that to two. We have Pack activities but meals are coordinated and cooked by den. Cooking for 100 people is a pain and is called catering not camping. . If turnout is low some dens will combine, this keeps the size manageable and parents involved. You may want to consider lowering the pack campouts and increasing the Webelos campouts. I personally think camping should be mostly on the den level anyway especially with larger packs, though the guidelines don't like that.

All good suggestions. Some decent rain gear is important as well. Costco and SAMs have great packs of wool blend socks. My son loves the BSA swim trunks and wore them all week at camp, lots of pockets. They have a clipped in pocket dry bag as well.

Pack, while I understand your concerns, do your criteria apply to the whole cub program or just the STEM program ? If not why ? As Dedkad points out if we need to bring in a degreed expert on very Cub requirement we might as well just close up shop now because that is not going to happen. At the BS MB level you can probably apply that criteria in the cities but what do all the rural Scouts do ?

Well I should hope so since they have a beer at the end of the course. Seems a bit like X Games meets COPE.
