  1. Sounds to me like she is not married. But then what difference does it make.
  2. and here you two took a perfectly good discussion and ruined it with all this mush.
  3. Unless a leader has spent time at a "Boy Scout" long term camp, they would not meet the qualifications. "After registration with a troop or team, have experienced 15 days and nights of Boy Scout camping during the two-year period prior to the election. The 15 days and nights must include one, but no more than one, long-term camp consisting of six consecutive days and five nights of resident camping, approved and under the auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America" Notice it says Boy Scout camping. This does not include Webelos camping, and I know of no
  4. I think that what you carry should be a personnal choice. I like a folding pocket knife most of time, but for hunting I carry a small 4in blade sheath. when you are gutting a deer its easier to clean off and carry too
  5. With all due respect Bob and others all I said was lets hear both sides. So far we have a parent aledging this happened at the NSJ in 2001 2 yrs ago. The committee looked at it and said it was not an issue. The parents admits son has problems. So maybe there is more to this than appears. Let us not condemn the SM with out the whole story. Not to say the parent is not telling us the whole story, but I have seen it on here before and I notice difference's in the story as it progressed DSteele was right is reporting it to the CE, let him sort it out.
  6. Maybe we should all back up a step. What about the SM's side of this story. We have heard what the scout told his parents. Maybe its not the whole story. Maybe the commmittee did look at it and deemed it not a problem. Thats the bad thing about asking about these type of things on these forums, you never get the whole truth, both sides of a story.

    Umbrella's

Man O Steele, Can we get a picture of that. Make a good example of being prepared. Can you do it again and have wife take some photo's to share?

    Umbrella's

At lunch today I got into a discussion with another leader about the boys marching in a parade with umbella's. Her troop marched in memorial day parade, in Rain, with umbrella's. Being an old retired military guy, I won't use one and don't think scouts should. But thats me. What say you all? umbrella's/no umbrella's? Paul
  9. The Rule of Three? Boy is that a myth. There are no exceptions to 2 deep that I know of, NONE!
  10. Well, at our camps we don't have to worry about the Cell phone issue, THEY DON"T WORK. The only phone is the camp phone and you must get SM permission for a scout to use it. I have only had one ask in about 7 yrs. As to the issue of a parent giving a scout a cell to use on outings. This falls into the same thing as any other troop rule. In our troop no electronics are allowed on outings once we reach the camping area. They are ALL locked up in the Cars untill we get ready to leave. They make traveling easier, but distract from weekend.
  11. Thanks, but no thanks. You can keep your whacked out ideas. I want no part of them.
  12. La Voyageur I still think that is a VERY bad idea for any group, OA or otherwise to get into. As for respecting your Culture, Well when the native americans start repecting deals that their anceastors made years ago, I will to!
  13. I for one hope the OA has better sense than to get involved in a whacked out idea like this. I can only see bad things coming out of this idea. I would oppose any effort on the OA's part to participate. Leave the dead where they are buried!
  14. We have just ran into a problem with the 2 signiture's on checks. The banks in NY are requireing a statement to be signed by CC saying they will not be responsible if the check is signed by only one person, that they don't look at signitures unless check is for amount over $1000.00. Kind of makes the 2 sig rule mute. Most banks don't even look at signitures for under 1000 dollar checks anymore

    New books

I would not wait. We already deceided to use present book next year as we give our cubs books in May-June so they have all summer to do things in it. Not to beat on National to hard, but how many times have we heard about new books of publications only to wait and wait. We are presently still waiting for the new training sylubus for the replacement to WLOT, and its only been about a year overdue
  16. Now we get back to the age old question. Who owns the equipment owned by the troop? We have debated this question till we are blue in the face and no one has ever been able to provide a solid no BS answer. According to the State of New York, Our trailer belongs to the Troop, Not our charter Organization. Same as our Bank Account, the charter Org is not on it in anyway. So DS Maybe you can provide us something in the national rules that can once and for all answer the question. Pamalam, As far as insurance goes, ownership has nothing to so with When insurance companies pay.
  17. I was a Cheif Warrant Officer in the Army for 25 yrs before I retired, now I work as a government analyst, analizing things for the government. I haven't had an honest job in my whole adult life. Seriously, I have worked for uncle sam my whole life after high school
  18. This is exactly why national tried to build better shorter courses so it would be standardized across the board. No more locally designed Basic courses. I see that not much has changed and that things will never change
  19. $15.00 per person for use of video? What kind of nonsense is that? Has national gone of the deep end on thisone or what? If there is a 300 courses in a year with 48 in each course, thats a couple hundred thousand a year. Seems a bit extreme. It justseems to me that for the time this course takes the price is high, and it isn't food thats causing it.
  20. What I would like to know is why woodbadge cost is so highcompared to other similar length courses. Can someone explain a basic breakdown on course costs?
  21. Call The Johnson Worldwide Parts at 1-800-572-8822. They are the Parent Company. When you buy them, Buy a whole frame assembly. Its a lot cheaper than just 4 poles and you get connectors and ridge pole for less than 4 side poles. Paul
  22. Sounds like they are talking about waiver of Liability in case of accident. Mostly not wort the paper its printed on. The Hospital's around our area won't take anything less than a notorized permisssion to treat, so the local form is not much good either.
  23. Well, since jackhammersa re not banned in the tool list, what did they do wrong?
  24. I am with ED, Maybe they had to many of those wacky brownies from the 60's
  25. Tell the CC you want a full committee meeting with COR present, lay out all the cards. Until they did that continue to come to meetings. Make then do it the right way
