  1. When reading a long discussion, I'd like the "next page" button at he bottom, so I'tve to scroll all the way back to the top to get to the next page.
  2. I've understood it to mean that if a Bear Cub completes 4 of the 5 (for example) requirements for the Bicycling Achievement, if he counts the Bicycling Achievement towards his Bear Badge he cannot complete the 5th requirement for arrow point credit.
  3. I can't get to that forum, either. Just kicks me back to the forum list.
  4. 1) Development a statement. Make it brief. Make it general. Don't put a bunch of "what-ifs" or "if-thens" in it. 2) Ask your COR to approve the statement or offer their own version. 3) "Publish" the statement, either on a website or in a "troop manual". 4) Follow the statement. 5) Be prepared to adjust the statement in the future, or allow others to adjust the statement in consent with the CO.
  5. Wow, there are some crazy nutters out there. In here.

  8. And why do we have a "Terrorist Watchlist" if people on this list are still allowed to purchase guns?
  9. Any joke where Teddy Roosevelt isn't identified as the drunk is suspect. How do you keep a Mormon Senator from getting a DUI? Invite a second Mormon to the party.
  10. Evil does not exist. Evil is a myth, a myth created by so-called "good" people, to explain away the problems of the world. An artificial wall, erected to separate us from events of our own doing. Because the people doing these things, like it or not, are us. What exists is sickness. An illness. A chemical instability. A delusion, a paranoia, a madness. Someone suffers, and the suffering spreads. Can we cure the sickness? Not always. Not yet. Can we find treatments? Usually. But it's difficult. Identify and eradicate. Costly. Unpleasant and imperfect. What also exists
  11. Sex appeal? She's 27. I have moms who are her age (Cub Scout moms, but still). And there's not very much suggestive about "Call Me Maybe", except the pro-gay content of the "official" video (and several of the thousands of knock-offs).
  12. Fun will be had, I just don't want to turn around a few months from now and say, "OK, we're doing this activity again, but THIS time, we need to do/talk about/complete..."

Truly, this man knows how to uniform.
  14. Ok, so our Pack does some "rotation tours", bouncing between the fire station and police station, newspaper office and public access TV studio. So this year I have Webelos 1's, and we're going to the Fire Station, and I'm wondering if there are any Webelos-specific requirements I should to focus on for my den. I don't really want to go head-on into Readyman (I haven't looked at that one, I was holding it off until we start doing Webelos 2 things). We've finished Fitness and Citizen (except for boys completing their meal schedules and chore list/schedules.). We did Traveler, so "t
  15. Well, it sounds like these troops are scheduling trips that cost mucho buckaroos, and more than a week in total travel/experience. How many families can afford the cost and the time for two family vacations?
  16. I was able to do myscouting.org training verification by e-mail addresses for leaders whose ID's I didn't have. But I'm sure that e-mail was from the online profile registered, not from the BSA Adult Application.
  17. Well, we could repeal the 22nd amendment. Let presidents go back to serving more then two terms. FDR faced a court stacked against him. He won by outlasting them. If federal court judges had no incentive to "hold off" retiring, waiting for a more like-minded replacement administration, then the courts would get less political. Maybe. Who knows.
  18. Doing away with the electoral college in favor of either a national popular vote, or a by congressional district vote, would have a tremendous impact on local races. All those "safe" congressional seats that no one pays attention to would suddenly get a kick if the President came to town. This, I hear, was the primary reason the idea was rejected recently in Pennsylvania. Suburban Republican congressmen thought about having to run in a gerrymandered 51% district (so the Democrats could be packed into 85% districts) with their opponent standing next to the President, and they balked.
  19. No, the minimum number of votes needed to be President is 5.
  20. It's a closed group, and the discussion is outside the scope of the group. Come down hard, and come down on both sides. If anyone want's to discuss politics, point them to an appropriate venue for that. Announcements, pictures, information, and the occasional recruiting push should be all there is, never use your Pack's "Official" on-line presence to become a mouthpiece for either side of the political spectrum. Heck, give the "offender" a link to scouter.com forums if they want to engage.
  21. What's with the cries of "Llama llama"? It's just some ads, so stop the drama. The keywords know you like your mama, And will get you to their Shop-o-Rama!
  22. Why do Handyman and Craftsman again, when you could do some of the other 20 pins, like Engineer or Traveler? Or find out exactly which of the requirements they did for those pins, and do other ones. Some boys built a birdhouse and fixed a bike? Fine, then build a tie rack and fix some roller skates. Its not like those two pins are required. I found myself having to repeat myself much more at the Tiger-Wolf level, where it was all "do this". Bears got away from that with the choices from God, Country, Family, Self, and Webelos more so. The only pin I may need to repeat is Fitness and
  23. The Tiger ones are designed right, you can just lark's head them to the placard for easy removal/bead addition. The Wolf/Bear ones could work, just double the length of the strings that come with the kits, and maybe make the hole in the placard larger to accommodate 4 strings, rather then two.
  24. Umm, where are there "toy anythings" at a scout function? Really, I can see a hard "No Toys" rule for Cub Scouts, or at camp "No toys out of your tent", for those with security issues. Don't they have enough distractions with the sticks, rocks, and other great outdoor stuff?
