Looking at the requirements, there are a few at for the AOL rank that specify only with your den, not with your den or family. The Webelos rank though does have the den or family wording. The only other hangup might be the "be active in your den" tenure requirement, but by the GTA, active basically means registered, unless you explicitly have other rules. I'd ask them how they want to handle those specifics and what they want to do once they transition to a troop, where attendance is somewhat more mandatory.

For lion through bear, any responsible adult can sign off on requirements, so at that level the youth can do scouting at home. The Covid FAQ has been updated to remove the ability of parents to sign off on requirements at home for Webelos dens, the Webelos den leader is still responsible for doing that, though they can agree to delegate that to the parents.

The previous rules allowed for a single gender boys den and a single gender girls den to meet at the same time and location. And den leaders can be den leaders of multiple dens.

It reads to me like the devices indicate how many total nights camping the scout has. So the segment indicates 25 nights and each gold device is an additional 25 nights. A silver device would indicate 100 nights plus 25 for the patch segment.

my understand is that a lot the annual reporting is waiting on the bankruptcy case to finish up. I suspect the goal is to have the case finished so going forward the reporting can talk about the path forward.

I believe you can dodge the registration fees the first year by first registering as a MBC and then submitting a multiple registration application to register as an ASM. That said, for the future, the unit level registration will be considered primary, and the district/council level registration (like MBC, commissioner, district committee) will be considered the multiple registration.

For good or ill, there's not much to do beyond move on if the BSA says to move on. Its a private group and they can more or less arbitrarily ask anyone to move on and go somewhere else whenever they want.

Wood Badge qualifies as a short term camp as per SA-001. As per SQ-405 (camp health officer), if EMS is 10 minutes away or less, the only requirement is that the health officer have CPR/AED training and the person be 18 or older. And for short term camps, the health officer needs to be on site only when participants are on site. The camp health officer can also hold other rolls in the program. Tag someone on staff who has first aid/CPR training current, designate them the health officer, and be done with it.

I'm in the middle of finishing up the binder for my day camp so I've been seeing all the standards lately. And Beyond all that, camp properties are not immune from local laws or code rules. They might be old enough to be grandfathered into earlier rules, but still we are supposed to follow the rules.

My understanding from last year is that at least one person in the group needs to be registered though that might have changed.

Insert my general rant that the cub program should be split into two groups, roughly k-2 with a lower general time commitment, and 3-5 with a higher level of engagement, but because the kids are older its less stressful for the leaders. Reducing burnout in the cub program would help a lot. I do think the rise of more organized sports (and higher levels of commitment for all extra curricular) has certainly affected scouting. There's a question of how we can either be priority #1 for a few kids or a consistent #2 option for a bunch of others. I also think that there has been a general fracturing across all of American life. The conformity of the 50s changed into the individuality of modern life, which means that each program like scouting has to compete more directly. Getting back to the basics of our core competency instead of being everything is important.

I would shop for a new troop, if that's at all an option. Its not the perfect option, but a SM and CC backing said SM regarding bullying is something to get away from regardless of what happens to the SM within scouting. It looks to be a troop issued shirt if I understand the situation correctly. Which makes it all the worse for the SM's opinion.

I'm kinda disturbed by the attitude displayed here that bullying is not a reportable incident. Handling stuff like this on the quiet is a big part of what has led to the BSA's current legal trouble.

There are some elements I wouldn’t mind as much. Add a way to access the Cub Scout handbooks electrically via Scoutbook, or the merit badge books as a unit, great.

The Scout handbook is at least intended to last several years. The way cub stuff has to be repurchased yearly is really off-putting. New book, necker, hat, belt and socks yearly just feels bad.

Being somewhat more involved in the Cub Scout area, I can say that on the Cub Scout side, there was a bunch of not reliable information that gets perpetuated even after the official word comes in to correct it. Having bad information on the official forum is not great. That said, a better way to get answers that everyone can reference would be nice.
