  1. I am not sure if this will work, but this is the PDF of the letter. circleten_08_54_50_5583e0d50689838d4e959e887b5af597c048.pdf
  2. Got a letter from Council today regarding the issue. Pretty much.... "Uhhh, that part about Option 1 we were talking about... forget that, thats not really an option. You can sign an Affiliation Agreement or Facilities Use Agreement and that's all your choices" It signed by Steven Schied and our SE. Days like this I get dizzy from my rolling my eyes.
  3. Committee has no business in planning patrol meeting agendas. The committee is there to take care of the "business" side of things. The CC should be mindful if the SM is doing something stupid/dangerous because they aren't or wont read GTSS, but otherwise the CC needs to stay out of it too.
  4. For those that have trailers, what tools do you carry? I was following the trailer on the way to summer camp in June and kept noticing something hanging down. We stopped for a pitstop and I crawled under to take a look.... Sure enough we had a broken leaf spring. The axle had moved back a little on that side. We were able to make it to camp with no problems, but had to get it taken care of. We got it jacked up with a Ford OEM jack, as hard as that way. Bolts were not coming off and we needed a cheater. Luckily a tree had taken down a power line in camp. 😂 They pulled the old m
  5. Personally. having a blended Troop would make my life easier.
  6. I guess I am an outlier. I don't do "fun". My 1 day at Woodbadge was the worst experience ever. I hate songs, I hate skits, I hate games. <shrug> I do like making sure a Scout learns the skills they need. More than that, I guess I "enjoy" what I do as a CC. I am the one doing the work required to figure out what we are doing about being charted since we are a UMC unit. I am the one leading the effort regarding our meeting space. We own our building, but the city wants us gone to build something else there since its their land. I like making sure the meeting place has the
  7. I like to point to my AOL knot and tell Cub Scouts I was once where they are. Aside from that, I like to be low key. We have a leader locally, that has been in all of 3 years that told me he likes to wear a uniform and put things on it. also ticking off boxes is a goal of his. Its someone I don't associate with any more unless I just have to.
  8. Some days I wish I was a Den Leader.... ðŸĪŠ
  9. Another day, another hurdle. 😅 Had my meeting today at the church. Ended up being me, the IH, the COR, one of the SM, and one of the trustees on the churches board. Of course, the church didnt know about Option1 (keep the charter as it is). In fact, we got to be on speakerphone with the Bishop's office of the Conference our charter is actually in. They haven't heard of what Oklahoma Conference is doing and not sure they can even do that. They were clear, the Bishop's office, that the church who is our CO can not recharter and do things as they have been. So... I guess our Coun
  10. I sent an email to our Council yesterday afternoon to clarify option 1. He said the option for us is a result of decision by the UMC Oklahoma Conference. He said the majority of UMC churches in Oklahoma have decided to keep things the same as they were. Our Council has Units in southern OK, so they decided to also go this route. Thats my clarification from Council on the matter of Option 1.
  11. Yeah, 120 days from July 1 to Oct 31 I think to get everything signed and ready. But getting the info to us at the end of July I guess isnt a big deal. to them.
  12. It came directly from our SE on official council letterhead and everything.
  13. I figure its a result of Council not wanting to be in the business of chartering Units. Also, possible something was worked out at the Council level so they assume liability so that option 1 is an option?
  14. Got a Key 3 letter from Council today. Says everyone needs to get together and meet to decided what to do from these options. This is the official notice from Council.
  15. I have a meeting on Monday with our IH at the church. Just to talk about what they have been told and see how it meshes with what I know. Our council still is playing the crickets song.
  16. Circle 10 isnt telling us squat. Aside from the occasional email that the "Bankruptcy is almost complete and we expect a favorable outcome and we can get back to Scouting" Been hearing that line for awhile now. Then, we get to hear how great things are, please give us some money. I was sent a screenshot of a discussion where a Unit leader asked about UMC Units and how that is going. C10 is apparently still "working on it" and hope to have something to tell us by the end of the month. 🙄 There are different types adults in Scouts. The "BSA can do no wrong" crowd who have th
  17. I have heard in my council they are going to pawn it off on District Commissioners. Of course I dont believe they have a plan.
  18. Our local American Legion Post is open to being our new CO. One step down, next step is a meeting between our leaders and their folks.
  19. We are a UMC Unit... in fact two Troops and a Pack. Decades with the same CO in fact. In a couple of weeks we are having a big meeting with leaders from all 3 Units to detail what is going on and decide on how to proceed. Informal discussions show we are in agreement that being a Council "registered" Unit is not going to work for us. We currently have a couple of options in our town that are not churches that we will work out something with. Additionally, we are going to have some kind of facilities use agreement with the Methodist Church for the limited times during the year we us
  20. Not unexpected or surprised, But there is an official graphic for it now.
  21. July 5th and I still have heard ANYTHING from Council or the local church. I know what's going on, but that doesn't help Units that haven't been monitoring this. Especially with a hard deadline to make the changes.
  22. Is there a Facilities Use Agreement form that is used by all units sponsored by a Methodist Church or is it something unique to the dioceses within the states or even individual churches. We are gonna need that.
  23. This chart really stood out to me. Kind of weird language for the discussion.
