One of my children had just been released from the hospital after a very delicate surgery. It was summer and it was really hot. Twocubdad, I don't consider 'snarky' an appropriate response if the comment isn't addressed to the 'snark' in the first place AND I certainly don't consider it appropriate if the comment is about something that involves a scouter advocating the kinds of things that JoeBob seems to advocate. In that case 'snarky', to me, seems to be an attempt to make light of something that I consider serious, indicating that the 'snark' also doesn't take those actions seriously. The better response, in this case, would be for the 'snark', if he can't say something serious, to say nothing.

JoeBob, I'm not sure how anyone can interpret this in terms other than your intent to be unfriendly to the other park patrons. That "really bad aim" comment (wink, wink) is particularly troubling. The local college arranges academic schedules for athletes so that they have the 'heavy' courses out of season. In season the courses are more, let us say, 'flexible'.
