  1. Pack15 So the 4 boys who went to resident camp don't get the award, because they did not go to the Twilight Camp with the tigers. The tigers along with everyone else in the pack was well informed about the Twilight camp. Not to mention, the boys who went to resident camp were planning on it months before the tigers were even able to join as tigers. I understand what you are saying about a pack activity, but does the whole pack have to attend the same event, even if they cannot afford it.
  2. As for the question about the June activity. We still had our end of year pack meeting at the beginning of the month. There was also a Scout night with the local minor league team. That was the june activity. Pack15 As for the July resident camp.. YOu are right, it was for wolf through webelos. BUT, there was a twilight camp that was promoted for the new tigers that signed up at spring round up. they all had the oppurtunity as our council did not charge a late fee for new tigers coming in. Where they did for everyine else if you did not sign up 2 weeks before. So that covers t

I understand the concept about the UnderArmour being a moisture wicking material, but the need to take one thing into consideration. The military banned it in Iraq and those areas due to the fact that when it was exposed to heat and fire it would melt to the body and cause extensive ammounts of damage to the skin. I think they may want to put something in there about that. As for the new shirt that someone posted, looks a lot like the old shirts. We talk about uniforms a lot. How did everyone here keep comfortable when they were scouts. I know that I always wore a t-shirt u
  4. Ok so I have a question. We went to a summer resident camp. We registered as a pack, but unfortunatly only 4 boys attended. 3 from the bears and 1 from the Wolves. That was our july event. We have two other events in the planning for August. A pack Swim and a Popcorn kickoff at the district level. Not to mention our welcome back pack meeting is at the end of august. Do the boys who attended at least one event each month this summer, get the Pin? I just want to make sure that I am in the right before I start giving out the pins.
  5. First off I am a Cubmaster, but I am also a ASM with our local troop and we have worked the boys into planningtheir own meals and setting up things by the patrol method, although they needed direction and help staying on track. I think that the best way to handle this would to enforce the patrol method. Have the boys that show up to meetings on time and ready to organize things, do the planning. This is the only way I can think that you can make it boy led. When they show up to the meetings before the campout, give them a few blank forms. Menu, duty roster, and a schedule. You have tw
  6. I used to have a copy of the den meeting planning forms that had blocks that that I could type my plans into. Made it neater and easier to read at a later date. I can also hand off my plans to another leader if I am unable to make the meeting. The file was in a microsoft word format and was easy to use. although I think I have found what I am looking for. I think that it would also be a great resource for other leaders who are a little tech inclined.
  7. I think that I have loss of my mind. At one time I had all the den meeting forms in a Microsoft Word document that I could type directly into the fields. I cannot find them. Does anyone have these forms, or know where I can find them. I really like typing things in more than my horrid hand writing.
  8. Eagle92 is right. Our council is planning a Huge event with all levels. Including overnight camping for all levels. They will have seperate camping areas, but all will be able to campout. I think that teh reason why they only allow visits for Webelos is that the stuff they are doing is Boy Scout level and there is probably not a whole lot for the Webelos to do for activities other than observe. Do I like the idea, not really, but someone who gets paid a whole lot more than I do (which does not take much) says that is the appropriate thing to do. We are trying to make more plans with
  9. Hey guys, Thanks for the info. So If i am understanding everyone right, it should not take all that much time to go through and make these. This will make the planning day go great. Are there any major rules that I should be aware of. OUr district will be coming out soon so hopefully we will get some more direction soon. our roundtable is monday and I think that more info wil be out soon.
  10. Our Council is having a district event where they will be having a rain gutter regatta race. I have been told that the boats will need to be done before they get there and I am looking for any help with this. We have done two PWD races but no regatta. Any hints, pointers or other help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I can say that there will be one thing that I should be working on that may help. Maybe a promotional video like they use for Summer Camp. I guess that I could use some of the 250 photos that my son and I took. Plus my ACM took a bunch of video of the boys doing the activities. I am just kind of curious on how the Webelos are doing. I know that they are probably haveing a little bad weather. Here is to a better year next year.
  12. I have talked here before the Cub Encampment that I attended this week, and I just want to say that I got back a few years ago and I just wanted to say that I was really impressed. The staff from summer camp made it a great time, they led the boys, and the Cubs looked up to the boys. I only wish that we had more than the 24 boys ini attendance. Each session was slotted for 150. But all that did go enjoyed themselves. My son said that he cannot wait until next year.
  13. I like some of the ideas. If you any ideas for other weekend themes, post them. I could use some other ideas too. CNY Would the mountain man weekend be like a scout skills focused weekend or something?
  14. I have a question to pose to the membership. I have heard in the past that many Cub Scout packs are not attending District and/or Council events because it usually ends up being the "Same old Camp." If you were presented with a special weekend like the Boy scouts have (Eagle Weekend, Shooting sports etc.) wold you take you unit there. Some things that I have been thinking of were like having a LNT weekend, of a Crime prevention weekend. What do you think?
  15. Here are some ideas that you may want to look at There is the Scouting for Food Campaign that we do in our council. Maybe try a Book Drive for either the local library, shelter, hospital waiting rooms, or other things like that. Maybe a coat drive as the weather will be getting cold soon, and donate them to a local church for those that need it. Hope this helps. Also do not forget to log you project and time ini the Good Turn for America website.
  16. Eagle92 Must be great having a chapter that has youth participation. Our chapter cooked last night for the DC and the only youth who showed up was the son of one of the youth advisors. I hope this year we get some better youth participation.
  17. Eagle Is this CSDC for your district or is it for the whole council. I know that next year the Boss was saying that they were going to do the mini Jambo for the Council. Anyway I guess these are the things that we get to do when volunteered for our committee.

    Pack Hats

I know that some troops have thier own unit hats. I was wondering if there were any packs out there that had thier own hats. A hat that the parents can buy when they enter Cub Scouts and keep for the full 5 years. With the great economy that we have these days would I thkn that this would be something that the families would go for and wondered what other packs are doing. I was thinking about a boonie/bush style hat, with the CS logo and our pack numbers on the front. Anyone else do something like this?
  19. One thing you may want to use is the "Indiana Jones" theme and use the line, 'Let the Adventure Begin' You can use as much or as little of the song that you find that you need. There are a lot of parts that may cut out if needed. If you need help finding it just let me know.
  20. Lisa I was thinking about the Pow Wow because teh UofS is held in the spring, and it is usually the same weekend as other cubscouting and boy scouting events. So it makes it hard for leaders to attend. I was thinking about the Pow Wow in the fall to make it available when the leaders are fresh with the new job. Not when they are getting ready to stop for the summer. Might make for a more beneficial taining.
  21. Thanks for all the great ideas. I am glad that there is a lot of feed back. Yes our council has a UofS in the Spring Time. I was thinking about the CS Pow Wow because there is so much that can be taught in the CS level that I feel that it would be beneficial and that there could be more than just the standard training sessions. I like what people are saying about the crafts, and the Local Go See Its. Those are the type of things that I am talking about when I was looking for the courses. Has anyone tried model rocketry? What was your success with that. Keep the ideas com
  22. I would have spun this off of another thread, but I thought is would be easier to just make a new one. What kind of classes for CS leaders would you like to see at a CS Pow Wow. I know a lot are going to say training, but what other types of things would you like to see. be vague or be specific. I am on the committee with Eagle 92 and I am on the training sub committee. So any help would be great. (And for those of you who are windering, I am trained in all of my positions for the pack, BALOO, and I will be taking the train the trainer course in OCT)
  23. I have a questions about this. What counts as activities. What types of things count.
  24. Welcome to the Forums from Eastern NC So what type of crew are you starting.
  25. Eagle92 Are you going to the Committee Meeting tommorrow night in G-Vegas. If so I will see you there. I have a lot of ideas on some things that we could do and I have been writing them down. It should be interesting.
