  1. is there not a time limit on how long you can wear your Jambo patch above your right pocket?
  2. So, what do you think? This weekend we are having a big 100 year of Scouting kick-off celebration. After the Kick-off there is a gun show which I plan to go to. At this point, uniform on or off? Also my son will be attending too.
  3. As Dr. Phill would say "Tell the SM to follow the bus in his own car. problem solved. Next?"
  4. I was in a true boys run troop. At the beginning of each year we would have a meeting with all the boys and we voted, suggested, argued about what we were going to do for the year. The adult leaders after the fact would make it happen. The only true way for this trip not to happen is for the senior patrol leader and the patrol leaders to make a stand. I know mutiny is not an easy thing but sometimes it's the only way.
  5. To start off with welcome to the forum......... OK, I'm going to let you in on a secret...... craigslist.com. When I was setting up our uniform bank I post in many cities that my pack was in need of uniforms. The response was pretty good, I posted in the sporting goods/rec section and the wanted sections. Offer to pay shipping and most people will give just give you the uniform. I ran a little campaign for a couple of weeks and I received enough uniforms for almost every kid in the pack... Good Luck
  6. So I was listening to the radio and one of the Parishes in Louisiana has outlawed the baggy pants with the underwear showing. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a ridiculous way to wear your pants but myy only gripe about this is the fact that we live in the United States of America, the home of the brave and the land of the FREE! Don't people have the constitutional rights to dress how ever they want? I don't know but this feels like a small step toward communism. What's next? I can't wear my hat backwards because YOU don't like it? I can understand a private business having a dress code
  7. The pack is financed thru funraisers. We are supposed to turn in receipts and get reimbursed. The problem I am looking at that some of my den meetings could cost up to 30 bucks and I have had some up to 50 (7-10 boys plus siblings). The parents have no problem forkin over the money because we do cool things but I would like to keep the money in the den and not have to wait a month or so for the reimbursement.
  8. just to clear things up DEN dues.............
  9. My Pack does not collect dues at all. I was wondering, do I have to turn the dues over to the packs treasure? And can I go against pack policies about collecting dues if they are dead set on not collecting them? If you can find literature on this it would help too.
  10. I agree with scoutldr. The responsibility falls on the whole troop. If it is broke or worn out, have a fundraiser. If it is stolen, call the police, but No a SM is not responsiable for the troops equipment. Emphazie TROOPS EQUIPMENT.
  11. I know this does not have much to do with anything but I really like the dark green one's. It takes the geeky edge off the uniform....
  12. the other day I was out of town, I was flipping through the radio stations and I ran across the Steve Harvey morning show. Steve made some points that just does not apply to the black community but also middle class white America. Steve said " After the Civil rights movements, the black man was exercising their new freedoms and completely forgot about the teaching the younger generation. The Hip-Hoppers are not teenagers any more , they are in their 30s, and nobody taught them the right way to treat their woman. In Hip-hop songs black men call their lady's b***** and H*** and that is a break d
  13. Does anybody else get negative feedback from being a grown man in a Boy Scout Uniform? It seems like a bunch of people can't get around the messed up scout leaders who abuse kids, Homosexuals, and just in general being the "not cool" thing to do. I can't tell you how many times I have heard that "Boy Scouts is GAY". I know I can't change the image of scouting or the minds of negative people but I sure wish I could. Don't get me wrong, their are people out there who love scouting but the few that don't make a big impact (insert ACLU). I don't really want to get into why I am writing this but it
  14. Leave no trace Philmont training Emergency perparness National camp school hmmmmm.......... still thinking
  15. ask and you shall receive............ http://www.classb.com/t-shirts/pack/
  16. So is the charter rep and the CC two different positions? I always thought they where one in the same......

  18. I do not promote any sites but I have seen some units use... http://clubspaces.com/ http://members.freewebs.com/index.jsp Thats all I can think of, right now
  19. So, here is the deal. The new wolf den now has 4 den leaders!!! All of the den leaders want to be active but because of their work schedules it is hard to have one dedicated leader. To start off with I am going to be the primary leader. So here is what I did, I have set up a Wolf leaders book that includes wolf traxs, (that includes phone numbers of parent, the boys achievements and a copy of the boys health history form) and a calendar of upcoming events. I have started to put together a week by week agenda for every den meeting (here is a copy -----> http://www.cspack378
  20. these guys can tell you everything you need to know........ http://www.bsalegal.org/
  21. none of us wear uniforms to committee meeting.... I'm a uniform freak, and I find if there are no boys present, we keep it informal. Do I think all committee members should wear a uniforms? No. I do believe if you portray yourself as a leader in the pack, you should wear your uniform. Does the Secretary/Threasurer/ and Committee members that are pretty much behind the curtain, then no.
  22. Thank you FScouter..... That's what I meed to know...
  23. is that in uniforms regulations to use custom unit patches?
  24. our site is cspack378.org, yes it is updated, yes it is updated with correct info... it's so easy a caveman could use it................
  25. I ran across a uniform that has a custom unit patch on it. It says at the top "50 years of Scouting" and the unit number is silver "137". It has a red background and a silver border. It also has a bootprint on it. I know you can get the custom unit patches from national with just the unit number but are they offering a "100 years of scouting" Unit patch? Has anybody else seen custom unit patches?
